Strategy Master
Its been half a year since some form of new AMAI version was released. But today we have finally released a beta for the next version 2.45.

This beta is of the Developer edition 2.45. Not only do we want you to test out AMAI for bugs we havn't listed, we also would like you to test some of the new developer edition settings and test some AMAI vs Standard Ai Battle's.

Please read the manual for all details about new features of this version, known issues with the beta and help on playing AMAI vs Standard Ai. We have included the standard ai scripts prepared and ready to go for AMAI vs Standard battles and an exe that will randomly choose an AMAI or standard ai for each computer opponent.

Enjoy!!!!

Error Reporting
All bug reports can be left on the forums with an attached replay of where bug occured. If you used a custom exe with your own strategies please also include it or if you used the player edition installer from an older version to install in individual maps please provide the map with the replay.

Congratulations on the release.

Initial lag GONE! ^_^
War3.exe memory usage apparently reduced! ^_^ (peak 209mb for 2v2 amai)

Will post if I run into any glitches.

Thanks once again AMAI team for the best RTS AI around.

Thank god the file size is just missing a dot! :)

I'll certainly be testing AMAI Vs. Blizzard :)

So, errr, WTF do I put this and HTF do I use it? It looks scary and different from the player edition I'm used to and it's spitting wierd and scary errors about missing blizzard.j files and AI files...

First make sure you have perl installed
http://www.activestate.com/Products/...?id=ActivePerl

Then open the strategymanager.pl and click the compile button or compile/optimize button. Then go to the "AMAIdirectory/scripts/TFT/AMAI_TFT.exe" to play

The "scripts/standard/AMAIvsAI.exe" is already prepared which makes computer opponents randomly AMAI or ai when playing.

For more advanced help. Read the manual :D.

I'll wait for the player version then... and how can you have proper AMAI Vs. Blizzard battles when it's random?

Because you build the exe yourself to do it and you follow the manuals instructions. The ready made exe was a bonus to demonstrate it can be done and for people who couldn't be bothered making the exe. We have been working on AMAI and don't really have time to make all different types of possible amai v standard battles.

Never mind seems some of you not too confortable in using the DE version. I'll get out some P.E versions or simple editions where appropiate.

Nah, I was just hoping it would be easy. If you take too long I'll get impatient and read the manual :)

I am very happy to find this first AMAI beta version! Thanks Strategy Master! I just downloaded the DE. Will give news to you regarding my tests, especially the fountain bug in the Friends map.

Someone there said that memory usage became lower (along with the removed initial lag) -- I can see that a lot of hard work was made in making those AMAI scripts -- Good Job Guys!

Oh, Blizz AI will be sooo screwed. I just played some Lost Temple games using Blizz AI Insane. Heroes that do not TP is the Achiless' Heel of Blizz AI in 1v1. I'll watch the games and post them here for reviews and make AMAI even better! :)

My report. View the replays using AMAIvsAI.exe of AMAI 2.45 Beta 1.

01 AI-Orc vs AMAI-Human
=======================

Map: Friends
Note: Map has Taverns, and Fountains blocked by trees.
Winner: AI

1. Was the first time I saw Militia attacks on a neighboring opponent!
2. AMAI didn't get the Neutral hero faster than should be.
May be attributed to the known bug where AMAI sends a peon to
the tavern, but when reaching it, has not enough gold to buy a
Neutral Hero.
3. AMAI tried sending nearly-dead units to the unaccesible fountain.
I see that this is documented in the manual as a known bug.

02 AMAI-Undead vs AI-Human
==========================

Map: Two Rivers
Note: Map has no Taverns and Fountains.
Winner: AMAI

1. Interesting game where AMAI made a risky expansion on the
opponent's natural expansion, but managed to pull it off.
2. Countered Blizz AI's melee build properly with
ghouls + mass casters.
3. Here, it's Blizz AI that committed mistakes like:
a. Not attempting to upgrade the Town Hall into a Keep.
b. Didn't escape a creep jack made by AMAI.
c. An attempt to clear the Red-Dot creep with a Blood Mage and
2 Riflemen.
4. AMAI should have summoned the Graveyard near the trees.
However, this could a Blizz Hard-coded bug,
because in the next replay, you'll see the AI-Orc build
the War Mill far from the trees, too.

03 AMAI-Human vs AI-Orc
=======================

Map: Lost Temple
Note: Map has an accesible fountain, no tavern,
and has many expansions for 1v1 game.
Winner: AMAI

1. AMAI did a lot of things right:
a. Fountain usage
b. Take advantage of expansions
c. Built a lot of units to High Upkeep.
d. Built the right counter units.
e. Enagaged creep with the proper size of army.
2. Blizz AI quircks are seen:
a. Far Seer did not pick the Tome of Agility after creeping
the first natural expansion.
b. Engaged difficult creep (Goblin Lab) in a disorganized manner.

*** My next tests will involve challenging AMAI with Mass Tier 1 strategy and early harass at Lost Temple.

Thread watchers: Notice the new file in the first post above, it's AMAI Simple Edition Beta, which means no need to install ActivePerl and compile.

@AMAI Team: This thread deserves a sticky.

You don't need the scripts installed onto a map if you use the simple edition.
Just run the simple edition and choose any map and it will be AMAI.

04 TheNonHacker vs AMAI-Orc
===========================

Using: AMAI 2.45 Beta 1 Simple Edition TFT
Map: Lost Temple
Winner: TheNonHacker
Length: Long. By the time I got 3rd Hero, I already won half the game.

1. From 1-9 minutes of the game I demonstrated the AMAI Strategy I
wrote about in the AMAI Forum Thread "Post your AMAI Strategy
Guides here".
2. I saved a lot of money to tech because I recycled my Footmen army
2 times, thanks to fountain, and later, Scroll of Regen.
Later I needed to sacrifice all Footmen to get Knights.
3. After AMAI finished the creeps at its
natural expo, it did not pick up the items. I think it's because
I was detected waiting outside the AMAI base.
4. AMAI Farseer tried attacking difficult creeps at around the
9th minute. I think AMAI wants to use the fountain so it tried to
clear it first.
5. I was caught off-guard with harassing Wyverns!!!
I almost ran out of peasants. I was forced to guard my 2nd expo
to protect the last of my peasants.
6. War Mill built far from the woods, so lumber gathering
efficiency is low.
7. AMAI surrendered after killing the (last) unit. Not sure if it
surrendered correctly though.

05 TheNonHacker vs AMAI-Orc
===========================

Using: AMAI 2.45 Beta 1 Simple Edition TFT
Map: Echo Isles
Winner: TheNonHacker
Length: Short

1. AMAI got a Tinker. Now there's a Warcraft III bug here!
For 2 times, Tinker's cluster rockets didn't stun me.
2. AMAI surrendered sooner while it still has a Grunt,
probably there are other factors that made it surrender,
like my continuous killing and harassing.

06 TheNonHacker vs AMAI-Undead
==============================

Using: AMAI 2.45 Beta 1 Simple Edition TFT
Map: Market Square
Note: This is one of the maps where AMAI can get many expansions,
and therefore, make 100-food units (High Upkeep).
Winner: TheNonHacker
Length: Very Long Game! Enjoyed my time beating 100-food opponent.
To see the part how AMAI surrendered, please view the replay
at 8x speed until you are near the end of the game.

1. I was supposed to test here if AMAI will still make
100-food units, and it did.
2. The main thing I noticed here is that the Level 6 Tauren Chieftain
with Reincarnation still TP'd out with a strong army.
I suggest that there should be special code check for the
Tauren Chieftain so that it will check the availability of
Reincarnation and use that first. If it's not available, use TP.
3. Many many items left out. Though some of them, I think are
"exchanged" items, because AMAI does not destroy items.
4. Check out the 100-100 food battle where they killed my units
containing items. AMAI heroes picked my nice items during
the battle. :)
5. AMAI surrendered the moment I attacked the main base, and still
has a peon.

07 TheNonHacker vs AMAI-Undead
==============================

Using: AMAI 2.45 Beta 1 Simple Edition TFT
Map: Silverpine Forest
Winner: TheNonHacker
Length: Very Long!

1. I wonder why AMAI has amassed ghouls and then had some Abominations
but only attacked me the first time I attacked the expansion...
Maybe because I built Rifles and Breakers.
2. This map has Marketplaces. I'd like to check if AMAI takes
advantage of these shops full of powerful items.
It did buy summoning items. This is just for a nice to have
optimization request: Make AMAI abuse the ff. items:
Ring of Protection +5, Amulet of Spell Shield, Claws of Attack +15,
Potion of Restoration (use this first before considering to TP).

08 TheNonHacker vs AMAI-Undead
==============================

Using: AMAI 2.45 Beta 1 Simple Edition TFT
Map: Harrow
Winner: TheNonHacker
Length: Short

1. I think AMAI should always sell the Cloak of Invisibility.
There is no game I have encountered where AMAI strategically
hides heroes using that item.
2. AMAI made a suicide creeping (red dot) at the expansion.
I suggest that AMAI should plan such kind of creeping
by building a large army before engaging the difficult creeps.
3. AMAI countered my initial harass well. :)

09 TheNonHacker vs AMAI-Human
=============================

Using: AMAI 2.45 Beta 1 Simple Edition TFT
Map: Harrow
Winner: TheNonHacker
Length: Short

1. This map is very small, which means a high tendency for any
AI to cramp buildings until they cage themselves in their base.
Fortunately, AMAI built smartly.
2. AMAI creeped green and orange areas faster than I did! :)
So I went for the red ones instead.

10 TheNonHacker vs AMAI-NightElf
================================

Using: AMAI 2.45 Beta 1 Simple Edition TFT
Map: Harrow
Winner: TheNonHacker
Length: Short

1. This map is very small, which means a high tendency for any
AI to cramp buildings until they cage themselves in their base,
especially Night Elf. Again, AMAI built smartly.
2. This time AMAI behaved differently and went to attack me
immediately after creeping, unlike my previous game in the same
map. This shows the variety of each AMAI Profile -- every game
becomes different. There are play-it-safe AMAI profiles,
and there are all-out attack AMAI profiles.
3. AMAI surrendered at the right and earliest time.
I appreciate this improvement, because it saves me time, not anymore
will I go around the map thinking AMAI is still up to something.
Now, AMAI is the anti-thesis of Farm-Hiding players.

11 TheNonHacker vs AMAI-Orc
===========================

Using: AMAI 2.45 Beta 1 Simple Edition TFT
Map: Tranquil Paths
Winner: TheNonHacker
Length: Medium

1. Accidentally discovered: If you want to fight High Upkeep
AMAI armies, this is the best map to choose! Both AMAI and I
quickly expanded in this game, because the expansions are guarded
with green dot creeps.
2. There are 2 major (High Upkeep) battles here! We both did well.
I just forgot to chat "gg" to AMAI. :)
3. Minor things like AMAI losing units while creeping. It tried to
save a Grunt but it got killed. If possible, AMAI should take
advantage of creep AI by attacking with a tank
(like Tauren Chieftain).

12 TheNonHacker vs AMAI-Orc
===========================

Using: AMAI 2.45 Beta 1 Simple Edition TFT
Map: Plundel Isle
Winner: TheNonHacker
Length: Medium

1. Strange, AMAI did not surrender here. The game ended when I
destroyed the last building.
2. AMAI executed harass routines well:
a. 2-Grunt harass on my peons the beginning of the game.
b. Wyverns on my 1st expansion.
c. 3 Raiders on my 2nd expansion.
3. At the end part of the game, I wonder why there's always a peon
carrying gold to the mineless main base. The gold comes from
the mine of AMAI's 1st expansion.
