OK, a few of you might have heard of the never-released award-winning Imarion RPG I made with a team of 5+ mappers. We completed 1/2 of a single-player level of terrain, triggers, and other junk when our terrainer quit and a terrible, terrible trailer that completely demolished all hope for the map. http://www.wc3campaigns.com/showthre...714#post704714 Go to bottom of the page, and you'll see the terrible trailer with DDR asian people dancing. Of course, I analyzed this too-good idea and realized, as a few had said, that it was too ambitious. So now I'm going to start a less ambitious survival map that does not rip off other survival maps. __________________________________________________________________ Details: Setting: Will take place in the jungle. Map Size - Large or Medium. Planned Features: Players will be stationed in a PvP enviornment, FFA-style. You cannot build anything except a fire and a tent. You cannot attack without a weapon. To build a weapon, you will need to have a Forging Hammer. The gameplay will be more focused on PvP and less focused on surviving and massing lame items found in other maps. HUNGER- If reaches zero, you will slowly lose 30 health per 5 seconds, until you eat again or you die. HEAT- Will not be featured in this map. FATIGUE- Will slow your movement speed to 40% of normal and cause you to miss on 40% of attacks. You also may spontaneously fall asleep for 5 seconds, too. The Story: The Maelstrom, found in the middle of the world of warcraft, has been spreading West, and destroying unsuspecting ships. But the wrecks are not being found! Recovery crews are sent to investigate the Maelstrom, but when it spreads, you are carried to the uncharted Western Islands. However, other survivors are there as well... ________________________________ REVEALED FEATURES: Animal Types- Wargs- Quick and painful, these dog-like monsters deal around 6-8 damage, and have a fast attack speed. They drop - Dog Canine, Dog Fur, Meat (2), Baby Warg. Drops are random. Jungle Kodos- Slow, lumbering, highly dangerous kodos drop very valuable things, but are quite hard to take down. A net and bow should do it. They drop - Kodo Leather, Kodo Tusk, Huge Meat. Drops are random. Snake- Quick, poisonous, these little guys are a real handful, and can heavily damage your survivor. They drop - Snakeskin, Snake Fang, Meat. Drops are random. Lizard- Small and easily huntable, these critters come in handy early in the game when you are looking for meat. They drop - Meat, Young Lizard. Drops are random. Raptor- Perhaps the most dangerous because they travel in packs, raptors make excellent pets and have heavy fangs. They drop - Raptor Fang, Meat, Baby Raptor. Drops are random. Boar- The classic boar; not very dangerous, but carries a hefty amount of meat on its ribs. They drop - Meat (3), Baby Boar. RESOURCES- There are many different types of resources in this map, used to create items and buildings. Gathering Resources- To gather the many types of resources, you cannot simply pick it up off the ground in most other survival maps. To get lumber, you must attack a tree. Trees have a 33/33/34 chance of dropping tinder, lumber or vines (trees can be attacked 10 times). To get stones, you must go find ruins and attack one of the larger pieces of stone. However, getting too much stone from one piece of ruins may invite the spirits in the ruins to embody dead orcs and attack your base. Occasionally while mining ruins, you may come across a piece of iron ingot to build advanced weapons (20%). Once you are able to create a shovel, however, you can dig for stones or iron. Types of Resources- The following resources serve the purpose of: Vines: Vines are used in mostly all weapons. Axes, swords, shovels, bows, etc. all need something to tie the blade to the stick. Three of these make a net (one charge). Stone: Stone is used most commonly in buildings. However, they are also used in bludgeon objects or used as ammo in slings. Iron Ingot: Used in advanced weapon building, such as longswords, iron axes, and spears, pikes, and other useful items. Lumber: Used in nearly all items, lumber is a necessity for nearly everything. It can be acquired by hitting trees. Tinder: An important resource used in creating fire for torches and campfires and for use in tents. Three of these makes a vine. Bronze: Can be created with combining four iron ingots, allows extremely advanced weapon creation, such as guns, greatswords, and polearms. ITEMS- Classifications of Items: Light Weapons- These types of weapons require a crafting knife to make. These items include bows, arrows, knives, and daggers. Heavy Weapons- These items require a forging hammer to create. They sometimes require extensive level 2-3 skills in forging or crafting. These items include polearms, guns, axes, swords, longbows, crossbows, bludgeons (clubs, morningstars, etc.) and javelins. Multi-Purpose Weapons- These weapons can also be thrown without charges (but with cooldown) or can be used as tools for fishing or lighting fires. These items include torches, spears, grenades (not real grenades, I mean thrown weapons such as dangerous concotions), and traps. Potions/Consumables- These items can be made with a cooking pot (building type) and require vials and a very high crafting skill. They can be made with blood (self injury takes away health), bones, meat, fresh water (in vials) or other odd things. Building Blueprints- When you combine items to make a building, you receive a blueprint, which allows you to place the building. Creating Items: To create most items, you will need the necessary resources and reagant item; that is, the item necessary to create the item (IE: a forging hammer or a crafting knife). Once you have all the items in your inventory (no order is necessary), simply click the reagant item, and you will be distracted (stunned) for 5 seconds. Then the item will be created. The reagant item does not dissapear. While making certain items, ones that require the forging hammer, you must be near a working fire. CONTROLLING YOUR SURVIVOR- Survivor Survival: Hunger- Hunger is displayed at the gold position, like in all survival maps. However, having hunger at 0 will cause you to lose 15 health per 3 seconds until you eat again. Cooking meat is not a necessity, but eating raw meat does not restore health and causes you to move slowly due to a stomache ache. Fatigue- The fatigue meter, aka, your mana, will occasionally reach 0. However, that is OK. You will not instantly die or go into a coma. There will be no "Sleep Outdoors" button. You will need to sleep in a tent or build a tent very quickly. Tents require 1 vine, 1 stick, and 1 tinder, so simply gathering from trees should be enough. Survivor Revival: Game Rounds- There are an unlimited number of rounds per game. If you die, and everyone else does too, the round restarts, and you respawn in random places again. Survivors and Pets: ACQUIRING: To get a pet, kill a monster and there is a small possibility that a baby critter may drop instead of food or skin. The critter is an item that, once acquired, permanently gives you the ability to summon that critter. CARE: Pets require important care! Your pet's mana represents its happiness factor. If it reaches 0, it will dissapear, and you cannot summon it again. To increase a pet's mana, make sure it's health is 100% full. Then give it food to chow on, and it will instantly restore all mana. If your pet dies, you must wait a long cooldown before summoning it again. USES: Certain pets have different uses. Wargs- Wargs are good scouts, and good fighters too. They have a one slot inventory (their mouth, of course), so they are excellent at assisting you in hunting or running to get resources. They are good at assisting you in fighting too. Raptors- Raptors have 4 slot inventories, and make excellent fighters. They are fast, quick, and can hide if needed. They are excellent pets. Lizards- Lizards are fast and small. They make great scouts, and have a 1 slot inventory for gathering little tidbits. Boars- Boars are a different type of pet. Boars grow by level, making them fat. They gain experience automatically, per 2 minutes. By level 10, they will make 10 meat when they use the ability butcher. If they are killed, you do not receive any meat! Boars do not have inventory and wander about a lot. They die quickly. TRAINING: Training is a big part of having a pet. Training works in levels, like heroes. To train a pet, you must bring it about a lot and have them kill small animals for experience, such as snails or frogs or lizards. If your pet is a scout, it will not gain levels. Training pets will bring them higher health, attack, speed and attack speed. The max level for a pet is 5, except for pigs, which is 10. Other Survivor Info: At night, it's best to carry around a torch - it extends your vision significantly, especially since your vision at night is very low. It also scares away critters. Beware - you also cannot attack without a melee weapon! Daggers are very easy to get, and upgrading your dagger is fun. In the beginning of the game, it is a good idea to get 4 sticks and create a walking stick, so you can attack units. _______________________________ If anyone would like to join in, or contribute ideas, just post here. That's partly why I moved it. No one else wants to make four-clicks to see our map now. Also, I had a team, so why did I let it linger in mtg? |
