I'm making a map, and would like to know what you think about the terrain, any comments/criticism is welcome. The map is supposed to be played, so that's why there is a huge Sentry Gun in the middle of the oasis, and also why there's a goblin alchemist on the pic, I've allways felt that a lot of maps on Bnet have really boring terrain, and I don't like that really, have been doing a couple of maps before (for like a year ago) but I've never really attempted to make good looking terrain. (The First pic is without fog, I've added fog to the second one, but I'm not that happy about it, and I'm not sure if it matters that much either, but sometimes on the map I'll use other camera angles, so I felt that I should have some to make it look better and to make it lag less...) Edit: Btw, is the filesize supposed to say 120/133 Mb? Sounds a bit to big to me (or to be exact, 100 times as big as they actually are) |

Looks good enough for me. Quote:
Put in the dot (1.20/1.33) and it should be right. |

Thought it was just some visual error or something, just wanted to be sure. So, anyone who has some comments/Critiscism on my terrain? |

A lot of it looks very good! I just see some bare spots like at the top of the first picture, and in the area around the second oasis. The oasis itself looks great, but the main fields and pathways look a little bare. 8.5 / 10 EDIT: I realise that an oasis is supposed to be a living area against nothingness, but I suggest alternate dirt types in the desert or rocks here and there. |

Actually I've found that to be my biggest problem, I want to add stuff to the ground, but on the same time the map is supposed to be played, not only look good, so it need some open areas, any ideas on how to solve this would be great though... |

Yeah, there are mainly two types of terrain IMO: Visual terrain for WT's, terraining challenges, RPG's etc, and there are like playable terrains. So to combine the two, which I think you have very well, you could add random terrain to make it look like a battlefield, just small hills, and I would suggest mixing dirt types with small grass spots. If you don't want doodads to obstruct pathing then that's totally fine. |

Guess I'll try to do that some more, I've got places that are even more empty, but I didn't feel like I needed to show you a pic of just an empty desert :) |
