lately I have been modeling about and making new terrain/cliff doodads. Everything is going well untill I find out something.. For no apparent reason the top and right side of cliffs always acts weird. Everytime, even though everything is correct, it acts weird.. Heres a picture showing what happens when i place the north or right side: http://img227.imageshack.us/my.php?i...liffwhy4uc.jpg Does anyone know how to change this? I spent alot of time making those doodads and really need help... |

your extending you upper cliff too far, either it needs to be smaller, or, the lower cliff needs to be longer. at least that's what it looks like |

but thats the thing, this is flat terrain, with 2 story cliffs. That and the fact that this problem doesn't occure with the left or bottom parts, only with the right or top parts.. heres another example of whats going on: http://img103.imageshack.us/my.php?i...rnerwhy6ew.jpg As you see, the problem only happens in those two.. and I have no idea why! |

I would say that this should be moved to the modeleing forum, they can probly help you better there. |

did u try adding the walls after setting the terrain how u want it? |

I added the walls after I set the terrain. But it does the same thing when just added on the ground. Also, this is a doodad problem since the models have nothing to do with it. I tired it with the ruined cliff doodads and the same thing happened! I can't place the right and top parts without them screwing up all weird like that. |

mabey it's a we bug or a corrupted file you may have. Try moving all you maps and saved games ect. into a back-up folder and reinstall wc3. |

I reinstalled it (which was a good idea on it's own, the folder was already pretty cluttered) and all i have to say is that this is a world editer bug. Try it out your self, grab the ruined wall doodads and place them around a size 2 cliff block. It wont work. It messes up. The east and north work perfectly, but the south and west mess themselves up. I shall now move to the editing tools forum to check out if anyone knows anything about it, or the required txt file to modify so that the blocks can be placed. |

maybe its something with the custom model. the default ruined wall doodads seem to work fine. |

It can't be the model. I reinstalled, and on a new map created a size 2 cliff block. And then when I tried to put all 4 ruined wall cliff doodads around the block, it messed up. Now unless my whole disk is corrupted, this is a bug. |

ooo, a new disk needed? lol |

okey look.. please try this out, exactly as shown below: http://img246.imageshack.us/my.php?i...doodads3xv.jpg If the same thing happens to you, then its a bug. if not, then I call it a day and give up. Cuz I aint buying a new disk, expecially when this is the only problem. |

oh. that's because you're putting the doodad over the pathing of the other doodads. no pathing, no doodad. try spacing them out. |
| 07-12-2005, 02:17 AM | #14 |
... but... i checked the pathing, its not interfering with each other... |

That cliff doodad also messes up water, after seeing what you did here I was fooling around and stumbled onto this. Unfortunatly this doesn't help you much... |
