Magic The Gathering: A real emulation

Yeah, I've been working on a map for about, oh , 4 days now. Basically it's an exact duplicate of Magic The Gathering.

So far you can place lands and cast creatures, and of course, and your turn. The combat phase of the game is what I'm currently working on. I've gotten up to "Assigning attackers", but before I can program in "Assigning Blockers" I need to test to make sure the attacker thing works right. Once attackers/blockers are worked out, it's just a matter of programing new cards and abilities( For example currently there is only creatures with 0 abilities, or flying).

Adding new cards is easy, and once I've made, oh, up to 4th edition, I'll show other people how to make new cards if they are interested(4th edition has, oh 200 cards or so? I'll be tired by then).

All bugs found so far have been dealt with, and ussually just involved me copying and pasting a peice of code, and forgetting to switch something.

Players choose from 5 decks, each a different color, at which point the game gives the player 20 lands for his deck, and 40 random cards of that color. Gameplay then proceeds like a normal game of 4-way magic, with no penalties for playing first.

Unfortunatly there may be some restrictions on cards, like for example Goblin Grenade requires the player to sacrifice a goblin as part of it's casting cost. This might be a little hard to do as creatures in my game do not have any value for creature type, and in order to do that I would need to do a whole mess of manual programing( remember those 200 cards? i would have to hand pick which of them would work, a real pain in the ass.... especially if other people add cards and forget to update it). Cards involves creature type will probobly not be included unless i can find a better way of doing it.

SO the game will be a perfect replication, minus a few cards that are too hard to do.

A "few" cards too hard to do? You'll end up using only portal cards in the end.

How are you going to trigger the spell stack? Instants? Complex cards that have 10 lines of texts and twice as much special rulings and eratas? Making a good system that would take creature types into account isn't such a big deal, I think there are many cards far more difficult to do.
