Spirit Link, Useful Read

If you ever tried to play with Spirit Link values you should have gotten wierd results.

The reason is that it's parameters doesn't do what the WE says they do.

The "Distributed damage Factor" is actually not the factor of the damage that will be distributed among the Spirit Linked units.

The "Distributed damage Factor" is actually the factor of the damage that the unit will take, while the rest is what will be distirbuted among the Spirit Linked units, INCLUDING THE UNIT WHO TOOK THE DAMAGE.

So if you have 4 units with Spirit Link, with "Distributed damage Factor" of 0.6 (60%) then if a unit will be damaged for 100 hp, it will take 60% of the damage (60 hp) and the 40 other points of damage will be distirbuted among the other units, so each of them will get 40%/number of units (which in this case is 4) = 10%

So what will happen is that the main target will take 70% of the damage (60% + 10%) and the rest will take 10%.

Other examples:

"Distributed damage Factor" = 20%
Spirit Linked units = 4

Main Target = 40%
Each of the other units = 20%

"Distributed damage Factor" = 80%
Spirit Linked units = 4

Main Target = 85%
Each of the other units = 5%

The formula is:
Main target damage taken = ["Distributed damage Factor" + (1-"Distributed damage Factor")/Number of Spirit Linked units alive]

Each of the other spirit linked units damage taken = [(1-"Distributed damage Factor")/Number of Spirit Linked units alive]

If the "Distributed damage Factor" will be 0 then all units will take the same amount of damage.

If the "Distributed damage Factor" will be 1 then no damage will be distributed and the main target will 100% of the damage.

Hope this helps.

two last lines (besides the "Hope this helps.") seem to be the most informative here.

Have you tried it with values over/under 1/0?

Now I did.

values higer then 1 will make the main target take extra damage, the other linked units won't take any damage (like if the value is 1).

Example:

"Distributed damage Factor" = 120%
Spirit Linked units = 4

Main Target = 120%
Each of the other units = 0%

Values lower then 0 will increase the damage done and will distirbute it equally among all the linked units.

Example 1:

"Distributed damage Factor" = -100%
Spirit Linked units = 4

All units take damage equal to 50% of the damage done (damage distirbuted will be 200%).

Example 2:

"Distributed damage Factor" = -150%
Spirit Linked units = 4

All units take damage equal to 62.5% of the damage done (damage distirbuted will be 250%).

As for magic damage, for values of 0 or higher it works just like reguler damage and distirbutes like I said earlier.

For negative values (-X) however it's a bit diffrent; the sum of of the damage distirbuted is higher then the real damage (damage+X) and it is distributed equally among all the linked units just like with negative values for reguler attacks, but with one exception: the main unit gets reduced damage equal to the value (X).

Example 1:

"Distributed damage Factor" = -20%
Spirit Linked units = 4

Damage distributed = 120%

All linked units take the damage equally (30%=120%/4) but the target of the spell gets reduced damage [(120%/4)-20%=30%-20%=10%].

Example 2:

"Distributed damage Factor" = -100%
Spirit Linked units = 4

Damage distributed = 200%

All linked units take the damage equally (50%=200%/4) but the target of the spell gets reduced damage [(200%/4)-100%=50%-100%=-50%].

Notice that in this case the main target is healed for 50% of the damage!

Well, that's pretty much all of it.
Hope someone will find this useful.

That's actually kind of useful as a spell that can make an enemy target (or Multiple) Just take extra damage for a while.

I'm gonna remember that, Thanks.

There's this thing called time which you evidently don't have a concept of.

Do not raise threads like this from the dead unless you have a very, very good thing to say, which you did not.

I hate to negrep, but if you do it again I will.
