This is for the ones who wants to make a prison around a target area and dont want to use triggers. It's quite useful.. its a bit long, but not that complicated: First, copy the rain of chaos (Archimonde) ability and change it as the basic spell, the primary one. Then, copy the Inferno (Neutral Hostile) ability. This ability will be used for creating the unit which you want as the model of the prison. In the Inferno (Neutral Hostile) Art - Effect field, use the effect you want to use when the prison is created. Data - Damage - set it to 0 Data - Duration - set it to the amount of time the prison will last Impact delay - 0 Summoned Unit - you need to create a unit for this based on serpent ward, with the model of the prison model you want. Then you have to scale it on art - scaling value, and place it on your map to see its size. Put it in a small size, something like 0.40 or 0.50. At the end, when you cast the spell, you can manipulate it to see how it fits best. Then set the summoned unit to the unit you created. Tip - you can use a model for the unit like doodads, a tree, a skull stick, or even a Freezing Breath model for a cool ice prison looking spell. Lets go on on the Inferno neutral hostile ability: Data Duration - Hero - 0.01 Data Duration - Normal - 0.01 thats it for the inferno ability. Now in the base spell we created of the rain of chaos (archimonde), set the Ability for Unit Creation to the inferno ability we created. If you want certain durations for each level, you have to make 5 abilities of that inferno and change durations. Number of Units Created - this is very relative, you have to test it to see how it fits, and also this is very related to the scaling value of the model you put. if you put too much on this field, it will make too much units, making it look ugly. for scaling of 0.40 or such, try to use between 60 and 100. Area of Effect - set it to 350 for a nice looking prison. Cast Range - 1000 is good. Duration Normal - set it to 0 thats it! all you have to do is to play with the unit's scaling value and the number of units created to fit it out. if you dont understand something feel free to ask.. and dont flame me for not making a triggered prison, cuz i just wanted to give an example of creating one without triggers :D |

thanks for this information, though I still think doing it with triggers is by far more easier to do, even when having almost no knowledge about triggers. |
