[WIP] Very first skin...

Sucks, I know, but I was using this mainly for practice and to see if I could do ANYTHING PS wise since iconning was pretty fun. (Even though the icons sucked)

The pants weren't worked at all, and look horrible on the unwrap but not too bad in-game. The armor looks horrid on the unwrap but looks good in-game, and the beard look awesome in-game and on the unwrap.

The beard's the thing I'm most proud of it, and the parts that were changed a completely freehanded.

So, any comments? Remember this is my very first skin, I have VERY LITTLE experience in Photoshop, so it might not be the best of the best. :P

Comments and feedback are GREATLY appreciated.

Breast Plate looks odd, i tried my self to do a breast plate (PM me to look at it) and it doesnt look good with such a flexible person (like when he sits) so try a more warrior type guy to do breast plates :D Atleast it wasnt just recolours (did u recolour any at all?) as i expected from the title [WIP] Very First Skin...

I didn't recolor anything. I basically selected a portion I wanted to work on, picked a base color, and added details. (Mainly Dodge & Durn)

I'll probably redo the flag, remove the white from the pearls on his neckalace, and fix some things.

Pants don't look too bad in-game, jsut need more detail, but the base color is funk.
Thanks for your feedback! :)

if u mean dodge and burn, tis a good technique (spelt right?).

(tis a noobish technique tho but it looks good) TIP: Recolour is only good if u are making sumthing like plate, recolour the area grey and burn it! Quick, simple and noobish but effective

try not to use too much pure blackj for the shading of the armor. black with a greyish outline around it doesnt look to pretty. try smudging over some of the lighter part of the armor over the black to even this out, then try to give it a smaller, stronger hilight with the dodge tool. it seems that the armor has two light sources, you may only want one. light coming from the top is probably the best thing to do for the blade master. also you may want to try an underhilight at the opposite and of the light source using a small strip of a different color. green or blue may look good with that.

Something you must realize when skinning... You always skin to make up for lower poly count.. so when your doing something like armor which isnt tehre. You want to shade, not like you would in real life, but so teh peaks are the lightest and the valleys are the darkest

The style doesn't fit warcraft, but hey keep it up! :)

Highly unoriginal, but as it was just practice i suppose it dosnt need to be.

You understand the basics of shading, which more that I can say for most people's first skins. Keep it up.

Wow you followed a poorly done tutorial and came out with a poorly done result.
I wouldn't call that basic shading...the lights come from no dirrection and give absolutly no reflection.
The material on him looks like untextured styrafoam with paint splatered all over.
Uh and its 512x512 too!?
Follow a beter skinning tutorial or give up.

rawr, messing with peoples emotions is fun.
not realy that bad...just don't use that style anymore...

It looks like you inverted the colours on the breastplate. undo that and it should look normal.

Joey.
It's not bad.. I would also like to mention doing a little DnB to help improve it.
