Would this be stealing?

I have this old RoC map and can't be played because one of the patches, and i want to make a tft version.
i managed to get the terrain for it, but i placed all the units, made all the heros, and pretty much everything EXCEPT the terrain.
in a few places (including loading screen) i give credit to the original creator of the RoC version. i tried contacting him, but i think he quit wc3.
so... would that be stealing?

it actually is stealing, but if you really tried contacting him and still credited him in the loading sreen I guess he/she would appreciate taking time to his/her map, so it is stealing but I guess it is not such a bad thing atleast in my eyes.

as long as you give credit where it is due, its fine.

You cannot 'steal' a map from another person. Anyone who claims ownership of any WC3 map made with the WE is, in actual fact, falsely claiming ownership of it. All maps are the property of Blizzard.

However, if you don't give credit, then that would be copywrite infringement if you passed it off as your own work.

actually, all data within the map is blizzards, but the concept for operation of said map, is not. Anyway, just my spin on it.

I thought he asked if it was stealing or not from the original creator of the campaign. In my point of view, it's not, as long as you give him/her the credit.

Something like, "based off of the original camapaign made by <name>. Recreated by <you>."

Joey.
And you've heard this enough, so lets end this by saying, whether you're stealing it or not - just release it with their name in the loading screen and play.

If you updated one of my RoC maps, left credit and didnt screw it up. I sure wouldnt mind. If you completely changed it and it sucked and I noticed, you would probably get an email. But what could I do anyways? Harass you and call you names? I donno...

Out of curiosity, what's the name of the map?
