In the Gameplay interface menu thingy you can change the text of different parts of the game. I changed the name of the races from like Human to Elf for example. If I select the map, the names are just the original ones (Human), and they stay the same until I have acually loaded the map (It will remain Human during the loading screen too). If load the map and then quit it, then any map I look at will have these changesd under the race select, an they wont reset until I either reload warcraft, or load another, normal raced map. This is completely the wrong way round, I want the race names changed before I load the map, so if you want on battle.net then they would be the new race name instead of the old ones. Is this possible, or am I just wasting my time? |

That's generally how it is. Warcraft doesn't really 'know' that you changed the race names in the map until you load it, so if you look at the menu it won't show the new race names. There might be some way around that, but none that I know of. |

well, in the map description you can just tell the players which race is which in the game or let the players pick in game w/ dialogs or something |

Technically whats happening is its loading new settings for Warcraft III temporarily. So any map you play after the map with altered names will have those altered names. Clan TTG once did this to spam thier name around, release 3 maps with the Races and computers all set to 'Clan TTG.' That way if you loaded thier map all your settings showed 'Clan TTG' until you reloaded Warcraft III. There is no way around this. You have to just add to the Minimap image 'Human = Elf.' Or let the players re-pick thier races in-game with Dialoges. |
