Is it possible to make it so that when you have a certain item in your inventory (standard) that it lessens the cooldown time on a certain Hero spell?

Without triggers it is impossible. However you could exchange the ability the hero has for an identical ability that has a shorter cooldown.

Exactly, when a unit aquires the item, replace the units normal ability with the new ability. Then when the unit drops the item, replace the new ability with the normal one. Piece of cake.

Actually, replacing hero abilities is not possible with triggers. (Well it is but adding engineering upgrade)

The best way this time is the object editor way, have 2 versions of the hero ability, the normal one and the one with less cooldown. Have an ability based from engineering upgrade that changes the normal version into the reduced cooldown version, then just give that engineering upgrade ability to the item

Except that you can't add hero abilities with triggers, you can remove them but that's it. However, you can add an engineering upgrade based ability to the item that replaces the ability with a shorter cooldown version of it.

Edit: Vex beat me to it... barely!

Edit2: hmm, my 2000th post... okay, getting offtopic now...

I need 4 new abilities then with less cooldowns by .50 secs because I have 4 "Levels" of the item that lessens the cooldowns, so do I got it?
