Well...I thought I got over this type of stuff a long time ago but I can't seem to import this model =P. I downloaded War3ModelEditor off of wc3sear.ch, and it works great. My problem is...when I import the skin I made and the model, all it shows is the hero glow and the particle effects. First, I decided to do the particle emission tutorial included with it(makes fire stuff come from under the unit), and so I opened up the chaos blademaster model. Everything worked fine, I messed around with the particle emission so now it's blue and coming off his sword. Save the model as BladeMasterBlue.mdl, everything's still good =P. Next I decided to make a skin for him, so I open up photoshop and make it, save it, edit the textures in BladeMasterBlue.mdl in notepad to use mine, load it all up in War3ModelEditor and it works fine(after some messing around, as this was my first time using the program). After making a few adjustments to the skin, I save everything again, then resave as BladeMasterBlue.mdx. Then I open up the import manager and import the 2 files into my map. My paths in the import manager are war3mapImportedBladeMasterBlue.mdx(the default), and BladeMasterBlue.blp. These are my textures in BladeMasterBlue.mdl(before I converted it to mdx). The only one I changed was the first one. It use to be "UnitsDemonsChaosBladeMasterChaosBladeMaster.blp" or something like that. CloudSingle and Cloud8x8 are being used for the particle emission. Textures 10 { Bitmap { Image "BladeMasterBlue.blp", } Bitmap { Image "TexturesHeroBladeMaster.blp", } Bitmap { Image "", ReplaceableId 2, } Bitmap { Image "TexturesRibbonBlur1.blp", } Bitmap { Image "", ReplaceableId 1, } Bitmap { Image "TexturesFlame4.blp", } Bitmap { Image "TexturesTornado2b.blp", } Bitmap { Image "TexturesTornado1.blp", WrapWidth, WrapHeight, } Bitmap { Image "TexturesCloudSingle.blp", } Bitmap { Image "ReplaceableTexturesWeatherClouds8x8.blp", } } Like I said earlier, my problem is that only the particle effects and the hero glow are showing up in the editor. I've never actually created my own models(although I really didn't create this, just copied the model), and I've only created 1 skin before so it might be something obvious..but I can't find it =. Edit: After the word Texture or Textures in that stuff from my .mdl file there is a backslash, I guess they're not showing up on wc3c ^^. |

Bump...if you need more information about anything I did just let me know, I'd really like to get this fixed so I can start using my own skins and models. |

Wait at least 1 week before you bump please. Are you refering to the new model editor recently released? |

Ah sorry about that =P. I'm not sure when it was released, it's made by Magos(or something close to that). I don't think the problem is with the model editor, because all the particle stuff I did in there works fine, I think it's either something to do with my skin or how I'm importing the skin. Am I supposed to do something to the alpha channel on it? I basically just copied the chaos blademaster skin but made some things blue, to see if I could import my own stuff. |

Alright so you suspect that the model is fine, but the skin is the problem. Correct? Okay then, open the MDL and change the filepath for the texture to the path for the default texture for HeroBladeMaster.blp Now import and test. If it works and you see the model fine in-game; then I will go into detail on fixing the texture's problem. If not, we'll continue troubleshooting. |

Hmm....well, now I'm thinking it might have been the textures with the particle emitters that wasn't working...but who knows =P. Anyways, the blademaster still doesn't work but I made a new skin for a furbolg model, and I'm pretty sure I did the exact same things as for the blademaster...but now it works perfectly. It's working well enough now so I think I'll just leave that blademaster I made as broken rather than spending any more time trying to fix it ^^. Thanks for the help. |
