Lightning Orb Issues

To spice up some units in my map, I'm using modified "Lightning Orb (new)" abilities to cast spells when a unit attacks (By default it casts "Purge"). Even setting the activation to 100%, I noticed that nothing was happening. To my surprise, if I ordered the unit to attack the unit (Either "smart"ing it with a right click, or using the attack order), the ability would activate flawlessly on that unit until it died. Then, I would have to manually order it to attack another unit. When it auto-acquired targets, the orb didn't seem to activate (Although attacking worked flawlessly). However, if I ordered it to attack the same target, the orb would activate!

I know I've gotten this to work before, so I'm not sure what it is .

I think that's just some stupid world edit bug, i don't think there's much that can be done abou it.

I know that it can work, since I've seen it used on all types of units (Ranged, melee, etc) in other maps flawlessly. Even I have gotten it to work before, but I'm not sure what's different this time.

I think you have to add autocast abilities to Abilities - Default Active Ability in the unit editor. I don't know how to do that through triggers though, I've had that problem before.

Orb abilities aren't auto-cast, they go off on a percentage of attacks. They're useful because you can have a unit cast a non-arrow type ability on every attack with no user interaction.

I tried adding it to Default Active Ability, and the bug still persisted.

Ah damn. Well I guess you could just trigger it, but yea it would be better if the orbs just worked.

It must be some strange value problem in the Object Editor that is causing this, because I remember seeing this used in the past; I'll see if I can find which map it was

Found the solution. A recent patch raped Orb abilities just as they described, and they did work previously. The map I remembered playing was Demolition TD, and I found this thread on their forums.
