Ahoy there guys, I've had renewed intrest in wc3 after my parents cut me off of WOW, which was probably a good idea anyway, it was more addictive than heroin. Anyway, I've been working on this map, that has the potential/intent to become a full campaign. The storyline is evovling very nicely, and i'm basically done the first map, which I would like to release as a 'Pilot', as in if you guys like it, then I will continue to create the campaign. Anyway, some cool things about it is... -Damage matters, as in, you die fast if you just rush in to die -You need to use your abilities well if your going to defeat enemys -The grunts/cannon fodder, aren't lame, and they put up a fight -Boss fights are intresting and very difficult -Awesome enviroments -Many cutscenes that push the storyline on -New outlook on abilities, making heros able to have more than 4 or 6 -Micromanaging is important As i further creating it there'll be alot more, but I figured I'd write this up until I release which should be soon, like this week. Feel free to ask questions. |

Anyway, sound idea. What is the control system like? Normal War3 RPG style? |

I didn't change the control system much, but its alot different, I didn't change is as in final fantasy type battls or anything. Basically, everything has less hitpoints, so everything dies faster, I wanted to get rid of the lame hack and slash time eating type of game, all the maps are going to take like 30-60 minutes, theres not going to be any really long battles that suck and you just want them over with. Dodge is really important and so is critical strikes, because a critical strike is basically a death blow, of course as you level up the enemies will get harder, but its all in porportion. How I'm doing abilities is that the hero has hero abilities, that you learn from levels, then there are abilites that I didn't want points to be wasted one, such as critical strike, these abilites level up with the hero, without the use of level points. Also, I don't have this in the first map because it doesn't occur yet, but the hero will recieve a spellbook based ability, that will increase the ability options by alot, most of these abilites will get leveled up from just the leveling of the hero. I'm attempting to make every boss fight different, as in the boss doesn't just melee you until it dies. I basically made the fighting more realistic, you will actually come close to dieing alot, instead of playing those lame games where you never have to worry about your hitpoints, and its just boreing ownage. It will make more sense when I release the first map, but keep the questions coming. |

sounds rather interesting niro, omg the date stuff confuses me so i dont know if this is a realy old thread |
| 12-20-2005, 07:48 PM | #5 |
It's a month old. Maybe niro will return! |

Hope he does, it's a nice idea, I like things with a bit more realism. I'd like to see a mod where ranged units either hit you, just maimed you or flat out killed you. Basically, there'd be a lot of missing (maybe trigger in some random splash damage?) and every now and then, you'd get a sweet, sweet instant kill. Imagine a hero like that, 50% chance to kill on attack, but he's weak as hell. THAT would be awesome! |

lol, should just whip up a really quick map. Call it archer wars or something. Give each player one archer with a spell based on Rain of Chaos (the random infernals one) remove the summoned unit and change the art to an arrow. Boom, instant randomised AOE attack. |

Ah! Yeah, I stopped coming to wc3 for a bit because it was in a weird format and it didn't seem like many people were active. Anyway, im pretty much done it, I had just taken a break and was working on a multiplayer map. There some stuff I would like to alter in fable, so Ill get on that asap so you guys can check it out! |
| 12-21-2005, 12:05 PM | #9 |
Interesting idea, I'm awaiting these changes. |

I decided to add a prelude to the first map, and possibly add the 2nd chapter too. But this will take longer, so it will probably just be the prelude and the first mission. I think you guys will enjoy them very much. |

Just to keep your guys intrest, i'm posting a few screenies for you to enjoy, part one is 99.9% done, but the prelude needs work. http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/8012/fabless11bo.jpg http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/6848/fabless29px.jpg http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/6844/fabless30cc.jpg http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/6564/fabelss48fp.jpg enjoy. |

err it lacks fog... also variate the ground.. and i dont remember any of this in fable.. |
| 12-30-2005, 04:26 AM | #13 |
If its lacking ground variation that is because its the interior of a building, or do you mean tile variation? as to the name, It is not a remake of any previous game, I didn't even know one with the same name existed before it. |

well we have Fable, and fable the lost chapters(both are great games) and nice shots niro but there is something wich is missing in those shots, as usual i dont know what |
| 12-30-2005, 05:36 PM | #15 |
Thanks for the feedback guys, I've added fog and some more designs in the tiles, it looks better. I've been working on making the boss fights better and better, because I believe boss fights are some of the most important aspects in a game. As many times as I think I am done a map, I always find more things to do in it, ETA on the demo release, is still, soon, hehe. |
