I thought they were elves corrupted by Hakkar(Old God of Wind). Might be completly wrong though. |

I didn't realize that the old god of wind had been named too... so the harpies are servants of the old gods? man elves can be corrupted lotsa ways :P but that can't be right, I don't think elves existed in numbers during the times of the old gods. |

The nagas were the highelves that sank to the bottom of the sea when the well of eternity imploded. Perhaps they were transformed into them indirectly from an imprisoned old god, but that could not have happened in the harpies case |

Harpies According to Warcraft RPG: Manual of Monsters, Harpies believe they are descended from female elves who betrayed Azshara, Sorceress Queen of Kalimdor, and were transformed into hideous bird creatures as punishment. They are content to be the scourge and despoilers of all that cross their path, taking dark pleasure in spreading disease and misery. Harpies are filthy creatures, matted with their own excrement. They capture males of other races and force them to mate using potions and magic to ensure cooperation. The males succumb to disease and malnutrition and serve as food for the roost. There is more info in the book. ----- SPOILER ALERT ------- As for the Naga, you gotta read War of the Ancients Trilogy. This won't be a quote. This is my summary. At the last book The Sundering, the well of eternity imploded. Earthquakes started shaking the ground, and sundering it. As the land of the middle jungles of Suramar sunk, the sea rushed in to fill up the gap. The palace of Azshara started to get submerged. Azshara casted a shield around her and her highborne attempting to save them. Totally underwater, her shield started to collapse as her strength faulted. The Old gods whispered in her mind offering a deal. The book doesn't reveal what the deal was nor showed if Azshara said yes or no. What we see next is the shield collapsed and now the Highborne and Azshara would drown. Suddenly, they felt they could breath underwater. Because of this everyone who read the book thinks that Azshara accepted the deal with the Old gods and that they transformed her and the highborne into the naga ... same as C'Thun used the Silithid as template to create the Qiraji of Ahn'Qiraj. This is not officially confirmed, but ... it is open to interpretation. Let's commence the drooling ... "I am Azshara!" -- She silently insisted, her expression constant. With but a thought, the queen created a shield that surrounded her and those still remaining. "My desires are absolute!" Her power kept the water at bay, but the pressure of maitaining her shield quickly grew troublesome. Azshara's brow furrowed and beads of sweat -- the first sweat of her life -- appeared on her forehead. Then .. voices whispered from the gloom, voices calling to her, promising her escape. "There is a way ... there is a way ... you will become more than you ever were ... more than you ever were ... we can help ... we can help ..." The Queen was no fool, she knew her shield won't last much longer. Then the Well would claim her and her followers, and the glory that was Azshara would be lost to the world. Her body was wracked with pain. She felt her limbs twisting, curling. Her spine felt fluid, as if much of it had instantly melted away ... "You will be more than you have ever been ... promised the voices. "And when the time comes, for what we grant you .... you will serve us well ..." The last vestiges of her shield spell failed. Azshara shrieked as the waters overwhelmed her. In the background she heard other cries as well ... her handmaidens , the guards, the rest of the HIghborne who still served her . The Well filled her lungs .. But ... she did not drown. -- There ends any further entry about Azshara leaving fans jaw dropped O_o Get the trilogy and enjoy it |

this thing about them disobeying ashara cant be true, coz if they betrayed ashara it means they were similar thinking to tyrande and furion, thus, they are good persons it must be another thing... |
