Now that im in the development and testing stages of my Map project, i need to test it on bnet time to time, but dont want it to be leaked. Standard protectors pretty much suck, anyone know if there is any function to stop people accessing your map, e.g the crash method (hows it done) or the one where all ur triggers disapear when u open it. |

Use Vexorian's Map Optimizer with the "remove as much WE data as possible" option checked, and the map will crash when somebody tries to open it in the WE. |

Ill try that, thx |

if you dont want it to leak also make sure you have a trigger that checks if you're in the game. or maybe some code you have to type for everyone to enter the game. |

Also remember, there is no easy way to protect custom art, all you can do is remove the listfiles to hinder someone looking for a specific file. |

Also the "W3M Map Utilities" Power protection works good, I allways use that. Just be sure to not use any of the other options than the power protection one. Besides from that I can advise against heavy locker, it sucks... |

You can't hide your script either. |

You cannot hide anything; all you can do is disable the ability for the files to be found easily, or pulled up in the WE's GUI. Map protection is meant to prevent little kids from 'rigging' good balanced maps. That and of course if you have save-load codes etc. |

Agreed and moreover it makes your map smaller. Let me quote Vex: "Map protection doesn't exist". That is completely true. When WE can open the map, everybody can learn how to. |

Im no so much hiding my maps functions, i dont care about my custom abilitys people can have them and use them as ideas in there own, i just dont want several months work to put to waste as some little theif, decideds to mod my map, put his name under it and then spam it on BNet and claim it as his own. Kick in the balls for that to happen. |

HEZZA this is your second warning, please do not use color in your posts unless nessesary. |

Luckily for us, dicks who would bother eliminating every presence of your name on the map and take full credit for your map before it becomes well known that you are its creator and AFTER that make it popular on bnet while successfully convincing us that he made the map aren't exactly very common. Moral of the story: Post on wc3campaigns before you host on bnet :D at least even when the whole world thinks some other person made the map you made, we'll know it's you. P.S. Is it neccessary to strictly enforce such a rule? An entire post in clear blue doesn't seem detrimental in any way to the readers, unless it's something to do the server then my lips are sealed. |

It could confuse noobies: A) they think he's something special. B) Blizzard employees on battle.net post in light blue. |

And color is supposed to highlight text, if you highlight everything then it will be worthless. But oh well Tim is the one that enforces it |
