right, theoretically, can I rename a .avi file .mpq and have it run as part of my campaign chapters? Like they do for RoC and TFT?

is this possible or a dream that I will never achieve?

Mpq is an archive file, so how would you run it?

that's just how the movies are stored in RoC and TFT, they're not real .mpq's, they're just renamed .avi's. If you chage they're name back to .avi they run in windows media player

It would not be difficult to test, certainly.

I just don't even know how you'd get it to play, it's not as if there's an option in the campaign creator :P

Maybe rename the file to w3x instead of mpq and use it as a normal map?
I don't know, but I renamed a cinematic mpq to an avi, and yes it played completely fine. This is good to know :).

hmm, that's not a bad idea, I'll give that a go...

Please post your test result, once you're finished, I'm interested in knowing if it works myself.

Ive done this before, just rename your avi to mpq and put it in the Movies\ directory. Then use the PlayCinematic native to play it:

native PlayCinematic takes string movieName returns nothing

Thanks Mike, dunno weather I'm actually gonna use this, just wanted to know if it could be done

Sorry, I repped you in the wrong thread - don't ask how, cos I don't even know how I managed it :P
