Guest | Ok this is a 480x480 map with the 4 races. The major jobs that I need filled is a Trigger Expert and Someone to help me think up quests for the game. There will be tons of quests that you have the option to do. I would show you pics but I dont know where to upload and how to get it on here and stuff. |

You could use triggers and create a sort of random quest system. When you go to a certain NPC which gives quest, it'll pick a random number which will decide what kind of quest it will be (kill something, pick up an item, protect someone, etc) and then do more random numbers to decide certain things about the quest. You can have the NPC only give out quests every so often. If you have to find something, you can have the trigger place it in a random spot in some nearby area (but make sure it doesnt get stuck in some unreachable spot, or in some inappropriate spot such as inside a town). You could even use randomization to decide if the hero gets an item, or money, or a unit, or whatever as a prize (and if its money then how much). It's an idea I've been thinking about for a while. I could probably do the triggers for you if you want, but I don't really want to cuz I'm working on another map. I tried to do something like this in Starcraft but I never got it working right because trying to make random events in starcraft is so difficult. I think this is a good idea, because the map can stay interesting no matter how many times you play it, since each time you have new quests. |

Grrr. That's the system I was using in the gaiden campaign. I have to agree with you, dinadan87, that is an extremely efficient way to generate quests. One difference, ours will be more complicated (i'm not saying yours is crude, i'm saying i have to make 5 random things for like 10 npcs, some have certain percentage chances of giving you quests or items, and you side in fights and stuff). BUt, still, that is the best way to do it. |

Well yeah things I've thought about this have been more complicated also. I was just throwing out the basic idea and then he could improve it how he wanted :D |

Well, I'd say take care of the rest of your map without worrying about quests. By that time I should be done with the map I'm working on, and I'll help you make the quest system. |

Guest | Can I place all the quests and then have a trigg that mixes em all up in location wise and sometimes brand new ones? |

I hope you know you can't make a mod of a game that isn't out yet... |

You probaby misunderstadn him, Fear.Factor. He isn't trying to MOD WoW, he's MODding Warcraft 3 to make it LIKE WoW. I don't think it would be proper to call it a MOD, I'd just call it a map. Even though we don't know exactly what WoW is gonna be like, we at least have the basic idea and can make SOMETHING out of it. Any map which is made by someone who knows what he's doing can't turn out TOO bad, even if it's based on something we know nothing about. If it turns out nothing like WoW, then we'll just pretend it's not suposed to be based on it, lol |

Guest | Exactly hehe. I hope my map turns out well but who knows. So far I have the Dwarf, Human, and Tauren starting spots. Quick question where can I upload pics. so I can show what I've done so far. |
