Model Import Problems

I need a little help importing a model and skin I have. Unlike the tutorials I've read which give you the instructions to export the blp skin file and reimport it giving it the same path so that the skin overwrites the previous one. I want to import it and create a new custom unit.

I have both the MDX model file and the BLP skin file. I import the MDX file and leave the path as it is and I import the BLP file changing the path to /Textures/thefile.blp.

So far so good now I try to test the model to do this I go into the object editor and click create a new unit I base it off the Peasant.

I replace the model file with my model.

I then try to apply the unit to the map after saving and rebooting the worldeditor and a message appears saying can't load model warcraft3imported/thefile.mdl.

Why isn't it loading?

Also why is it saying MDL? The extension on the model is MDX.

Well I figured it out I accidentally named the model .mdl rather then .mdx while caused this odd behavior.
