Have less than 10 characters in the message (I think it's 10), or do not have a message at all (So that the player's names are shown).

There's 2 types of load screen - 1 with text and screen, 1 with player names and minimap. Pick the latter.

Or make a custom one. Right? 0_o

thats what you really should do if you wish to add text to a loading screen: replace the default art for the progress-sowing loading screen wit text included. but that doas add to the map size.

I once heard that in battle .net no map requires players to press any keys in loading screens

This is true, after a certain period of time, after everyone has downloaded (I think 60 seconds) the map starts. So if everyone takes 90 seconds to start, and one person does not hit a key, it waits 60 seconds then goes.

that might be true, but i dont think so.
i just want my map to not say

"Press any key to continue"

because sometimes, if the host, or some RANDOM player (i guess) doesn't press ANYkey, it waits until they do. It's happened numerous times. Maybe its a glitch, maybe im mistaken, but there ARE maps that do not go to the "Press any key to continue" phase and skip to "Waiting for other players". That's what im looking for

I think that if a map takes long enough to load, it skips the waiting for players part. So, based on that, I could conclude that the game automatically skips it even if the player doesn't press a key after a reasonably small ammount of time. But that's just a guess. You can always try using the default melee game screen.

In any event, this isn't a triggering question, moved.

it doas automatically skip if it takes too long to load, and te "press a key to continue" thingy automatically goas away after some time. (which also seems to depend on the load time)

If you use the melee loading screen, it doesn't prompt you to press a key. I've had lots of success modifying that screen without significantly adding to the map size. PFW does it.

can you force a keypress during "map initialization" ? afaik the map init is done while the loading screen is up, so that may work. since you can press a key before it says "press any key to continue" and it will count.

In Hero Wars they add a custom minimap image and then they put the last changes as text inside that image. That way they can give some info with a melee loading screen.

Well, yeah that's similair to DotA's. Tim is correct in that if the description has less than a certain number of characters, it no longer waits for someone to press a key assuming they've already read whatever it is. DotA uses a custom loading screen (which could have been created much more efficiently, by using the Melee loading screen) that they put the text into the picture itself making it have 0 Characters - thus no need to press ANY KEY.

Just force the player to press esc. Should work.
