I haven't really made something very useful nor advance yet, but I started after New Year's Eve and it's only the 4th of January today, so I think I am on the right way. This small program I've made tells jokes. It has the Next, Previous and Random buttons, to show you different jokes. There are currently 50 jokes in the program. I know it is not the best thing ever, but I am very new to it, so please think of that while commenting. ![]() ![]() ![]() The above pictures are of the interface. I would like to specially thanks Zoxc for helping med out with the code and telling me jokes, Mc ! for fixing a small problem with the icon and telling me jokes, and last, but not least, Tim. for telling me jokes. Please come with suggestions and comments, and have fun while reading the jokes. NOTE: Read the "Read Me.txt" file before using it. |

Indeed not very wc3 related... but handy of you modded for a while ;) @Taur: Nope, you are just a big chuck of post ... Make program font Tahoma 8pt. ^^ |

Verdana 10 pt instead. in whichever case it is better than MS Sans Serif |

I am not sure if this forum is supposed to be war3 related btw |

OK, I have some other ideas for updates, I will change the font at the same time too. Remember, I am new to programming, it is less than 4 days since I started reading tutorials about this. @Taur: Vex is right, according to the description everything is ok here, and starting with making an advanced modding program for wc3 is impossible so early. |

Didn't see it was in programming ;) Maybe change background to Info Tooltip color? that yellow is a pain in the neck o_O More challenges: Make it read the jokes from a file. Then make a update buton to download a new joke file ^^ Random is hard to do in VB.NET..... really missed Delphi's Random(Range) ^^ |
| 01-04-2006, 07:29 PM | #11 |
huh? I say that loading from a file is easier than having them into internal strings. btw what is so hard with VB random? and where blade will store jokes so he can download them? |

Just to clarify, this forum allows programs unrelated to War3; and Blade asked permission prior to posting. Glad to know I could help ^_- |

Here's a suggestion/and or challenge for you: Make the file read jokes from a text file. If you need help just PM me or something. That is, if you did it in either VB or C++ :P |
