"I Mod Warcraft 3 Because..."

Obviously there is always wishes/hopes/false rumors about which is going to come first: Starcraft 2 or Warcraft 4.

For me, i switched to warcraft 3 because the game is so much more moddable. I can be much more creative when making my maps, and the engine can do things never dreamed of with Starcraft (and Brood War).

Do you folks mod warcraft 3 because you enjoy the fantasy more than the sci-fi? or are you like me and enjoy the huge amount of flexibility the engine allows?

I personally enjoy the starcraft universe more, and i assume whichever came next, Warcraft 4 or Starcraft 2, would have an even more powerfull world editor than that of Warcraft 3.

suposivly the next editor will have more power and option as this one, but the question remains if there will ever come a new RTS from blizzard, it is a fact that there catch (finacially) was wat bigger with WoW than with warcraft3, seeing develepors also want more and more money, they will most likely go with another Mmorpg instead of another RTS.

To come back at a question you asked in top of your thread, I Mod cause I wanted to learn more in moding, I did a few with the sc engine, but never much.
I like both themes, SC might be my old and still favourite game, I like the whole wc enviroment a little bit better, but I guess if there would ever come another SC that SC*2* will outmatch that off course ;)

I believe that there will be another Warcraft. I just think it's a stupid place to stop the story but that's just me.

I mod Dawn of War now, though I sorta plan to come back to War3 sometime after I'm done this project. I've always been interested in the Warcraft universe and I own most of the RPG books that have been released. There are a lot of classes in the RPG that aren't in War3 or WoW, would be fun little challenges to tackle.

Dawn of War rules for modding though, higher polycounts (upto and over 3000 per unit!), Biped support and completely customizable team colors (5 TC sections, all RGB definable)!

I used to mod TA:K, I came here to do a TC but realised I had a lot to learn.

Along the learning path I found new interests, and did a few Warhammer inspired projects. The more I learned, the greater my aspirations - I think I've started a mod for every idea I've ever had :P

I mod wc3 because I don't like it, to make a different game out of it. I did not have any projects of my own, I just took part mainly in Whitehorn's mods. Now I mod Doom 3, I'm part of a great team, but I'm still doing stuff for wc3.

I like the fantasy universe way more than scifi, but in the end it is the because of the editor I mod this game.

I don't like starcraft but if blizzard releases starcraft 2 and it has better editing capabilities, I will move

The first thing I will make would be the anti-project revolution ^^

Haha, a sc --> wc conversion would rock.

i think wc3-SC are the most editable RTS games from their times, even new games like AoE3 can't magnify or be compared with this 2 games moding possibilities.

I mod just for fun and my speciality is Animation, i like to make 3D characters get qualities or act iaccording to some real life parameters, What i mean is too optimize their movements in the way so they follow aspects that we do (running, standing, dancing, etc). I would say that my reason for moding is because i have a pasion for games/modify or even make them.

Well, a big part of the modding part of StarCraft was due to the programs supplied by Camelot Systems (Merlin and KingArthur) which made it possible to do all sorts of funky stuff. With Warcraft 3 it has become a native feature to the editor and it's easier to mod.

I still believe that StarCraft was much more ground-breaking and "new" for it's time than Warcraft 3 was.

As for which comes first, I would bet on StarCraft. With World of Warcraft, there will be a lot of story conflicts if they released a 4th with a new single player campaign (unless it's not on Azeroth, which would suck). Also, the StarCraft storyline was left very open-ended after Broodwar, just begging for a sequel.
