once again trying to get spell editting to work. dled mpq2k and when i try to open it nothing happens. What gives? (I already extracted it and everything).

There are 4 things in the folder:
lmpqapi.dll, mpq2k.exe, StarEdit.exe (whatever the hell that is), and storm.dll

when i try to open the mpq2k.exe some dos this pops up for a second and then goes away and nothing happens. What do i do?

also, what is this storm.dll thing? When i tried to extract the thing into the warcraft folder it wanted to replace that so apparently there's already one there. What is it for?

Thanks,

Just dl the spell implementer i made. It will help you implement all files that you make for spells. Just find the post Auto Spell Implement, since it doesnt let you upload duplicates of things.

archersRcheap hasn't answered ALL your questions, but I'll do so:

I won't talk so bad about StarEdit. StarEdit.exe is the executeable of the Starcraft Campaign Editor and (ab)used by MPQ2k for writing MPQs (Starcraft maps are like Warcraft III maps also MPQs).

You have to call mpq2k.exe from the DOS promt. If you don't know what that is and how to do so then ask again or nevermind.

I have already explained that MPQ2k uses StarEdit for MPQ writing. StarEdit uses parts of storm.dll. This storm.dll is v1.08b (from Starcraft). Anyway I won't extract it to you Warcraft III folder directly, because this would cause interference (Warcraft III uses strom.dll v1.09). Put it into another folder!

Anyway I'd use WinMPQ v1.60 for all that implementing stuff!
