Guest | Hi all, i'm a noob in editing, and fairly new on this site... and i would like some help with this... How can you change for example the interfaceicon for a unit with my own icon? I already have downloaded the image extractor, so I can make those .BLP images by converting a Jpeg or whatever, and i have downloaded the unit editor so I can change the path for interface icons for that unit to ReplaceblaTextures\commandbutton\BTN<whatever>.blp or the like. But where does the .blp have to go, or what do I have to do in order to acces it like that? I think i understand that is must go in the War3.mpq file or something... but how do i do that, and if i need an editor do make it so, which one and how does it work. Thanks a lot!! Sjerrul |

Guest | Allright! I have done over all the threads, and your advice And finally it worked! But not completely like I read it. It isn't really nessecary to extract the files (i'm talking about Icons, all the ReplaceableTextures\COmmandButtons\BTN<icon>.blp) into exactly that folder. But it could be anything... When you have edited the icon and converted it to .BLP and you run WINMPQ you must load your map, not the War3.mpq or someting but the .W3m file! I must have read over this very important line in the other tutorials, cuz I was trying to add stuff into War3.Mpq file. One more little question... When you have edited an icon for a spell, and imported it into you map, when you have the enter pathname for the original spell, like ReplaceableTextures\COmmandButtons\BTNCarrionSwarm.blp (With BTNarrionSwarm.blp being my edited icon) Will it ALWAYS overwrite the icon in the game? So will the map "look" in its own archive first, and when it has found the (edited) carrion swarm icon there, will it skip the original icon in the War3.mpq file? |
