how do I make an item thats like the spyglass ie increase the viewing range of a unit.. but does it all the time rather than just at night?

Look at item in Object Editor, maybe there is something like day/night switch

not in the item itself, you have to look at the ability which the item grants.

You could apply triggers to the item

Indeed; unless there is an option to allow day/night toggle, I would suggest a simple trigger.

There is an ability for bonus sight range, but it's not the one used by the Goblin Night Scope item (which uses an ability named Ultravision), but it's named something like Item Sight Range Bonus. However, I think a unit's sight range can not go above 1800.

now is their an abilty that makes a unit uncontrollable by a player for a number of seconds.

first of all.. there are no free slots to transfer control of unit too..
and I dont think order unit to stop will work as the unit will be autocarrying out its own list of orders.

Unit - Pause unit trigger should work.
Or you can banish and silence him at the same time, giving him a 100% movespeed reduction to boot :P

That can probably be changed in the advanced options.

Not really, I didn't find anything under gameplay constants, and the object editor decreases any value you input for sight range to 1800 if it's higher than that. Maybe the bonus sight range ability can increase the sight range above 1800 anyway, but I doubt it, I think I already tested once and it didn't.

I guess I need more information about my item..

Basically its a Colored ball. That has a taunt ability.. it will obvious taunt the second it is summoned. But I evidently want the Player to have minimium control of where it goes, at the same time not stop it from moving lol maybe remove its MOVE button? is the best bet.

I tried order a unit to follow itself to stop it from moving
lol got a lovely little crash. hah..
