Basically I want to change the tooltip for the 'Hero Abilities' button which you click to learn abilities. Ive looked all over the Game Interface window and maybe im just blind, but I can't find it.

Indeed, it's not there.

Reminds me we should eventually add that to UMSWE / WEU. Wouldn't be hard.

//EDIT: Create an UI folder in your war3 install dir and extract the attached archive to that folder. Then restart the editor and you will find options in the Game Interface screen to edit the Hero Skill tooltip and shortcut.
I also added Attack Ground, Stop, Patrol, Hold Position, Rallypoint, Cancel, Cancel Build, Cancel Train and Cancel Revive.

That work for WE or just UMSWE?

for WE and WEU ( if not something inside overrides it )

Yes, it works for all WE, UMSWE and WEU.

For WE and UMSWE users it might change some strings in the OE though. If it bothers you, you can simply remove the WorldEditStrings.txt file (if you don't mind that the new fields I added will miss their caption then).

Is it possible to remove the hero ability tooltip thing all together?

Giving a hero 7 potential slots of abilities?

Well, Fulla, that would mean you're not going to level up those abilities through the normal level-up menu.

Which means you can make them unit abilities with levels instead of hero abilities, because you'd be using a different way to level them up.

Which in turn means the level-up button would disappear anyway, as the hero wouldn't have any hero skills.

I was curious about something similiar...

I really have no clue if I'm posting this in the right place, but...

I wanted to take out the "Hero Abilities" Red Cross button and place it next to its respective Hero icon in the upper-left of the game screen. That way, there is a free slot in the command button area for another ability.

I've spent a fw hours looking through the .fdf files using Metapad(Enchanced Notepad) and I can find everything BUT the command button's frame or what tells the game to place the hero icons in the upper left of screen. x.x

Anyone know how to do something like this?

When in doubt, assume it is hardcoded.

Bah! :P I don't it's that Hardcoded. The idle-worker icon and the Hero icons are just buttons like the Hero Abilities(Spellbook) button. I there's a way to move it...

How about u make a another hero that cant move/attack and has dummy "learn" abilities, then the icon will appear on the upper-left corner just like u want.

?? Uhh... how would removing the Attack icons get me that? *thinks he should make a mock-up of what he's looking for...*

set movement speed to 0 and attacks enabled to none?

I don't think you understand what I'm looking for:

Now, the Red Cross button is no longer in the Command Button area, rather it is next to the Hero Icon in the upper left of the Screen.

I think what he wants and pretty much what I want is.

- hero learn ability removed, but unit remains a hero still able to gain exp and level as normal.
- With dialogues you can learn abilities, which you can access by clicking learn ability at top left.

Is that possible in anyways?
Or if not how could you cheat and get around it?
