Right, I just got back from the weekly meeting with Whitehorn and we've completed the bones of the Dwarven Techtree. Here's how it looks: There isn't much building, you requesition buildings instead. The way this works is you march your mobile army into an established town and start buying up buildings that are already there for your little geezers to use. Your first building is the Town Hall (big suprise!) and this can train Miners, Runners and Engineers. Each of these units can train into 3 seperate units depending on the buildings you have. Miners can train to become: Warriors (requires no building), Lowlanders (requires Tavern) or Demolishers (requires Bunker) Runners can train to become: Sharpshooters (requires Armoury), Scouts (requires Outpost) or Bombadeers (requires Bunker) Engineers can train to become: Weaponsmiths (requires Blacksmiths), Rocketeers[flying] (requires Launch Pad) or Mechanics (requires Workshop) Ok, that's how the techtree works basically. Now we need your help, we want some abilities for the units, that's where you come in. I'll give you a description of each unit, see if you can come up with some abilities. Bear in mind they should not use mana, just time cooldowns. Melee Miner - basic worker unit, used for mining gold Warrior - Strength unit. High armour and packs a reasonable punch Lowlander - Agility unit. Lower armour, but quick and has nifty abilities Demolisher - Intelligence unit (sorta). Weak armour, but high power abilities Ranged Runner - Scouting unit, weak but good speed and visibility Sharpshooter - Strength unit. Good powerful ranged attack Scout - Agility unit. Is quick, has v. good visibility and useful abilities Bombadeer - Int. unit. Powerful attack and spells, but weak armour Mech(eqiv. spellcaster) Engineer - can build those few buildings that you don't have to requesition Weaponsmith - Strength unit. Strong guy that can also build weapons/armour for other units Rocketeer - Flying agility unit. Can fly, what more can be said? Mechanic - The fun one. This guy ain't strong, but he builds robots and machines. What machines? You decide! Ok, but your creative caps on and...GO! Create! |

Ok, from what I can gather, you guys aren't making the races in a "mass all the troops you have and charge" type of style, but rather you're aiming for more tactical playing? If I'm wrong, then just shoot me now and ignore the rest of my post. However, if I'm right then perhaps a good idea would be too make a system (I'm not even sure this is possible) where units rise in ranks over time. For example a Warrior that has killed 15 enemy units gets promoted to Sergeant or something and gets extra combat abilities and maybe leadership skills as well, such as Auras. |

We did discuss this, but decided we want all-out fun rather than labourious grinding away with leveling people up. It's very much plug 'n' play type action. |

Fair enough Warrior - Ram: Warrior charges in a pack of enemies and rams them, giving a 50% chance of stunning affected enemies. Lowlander - Raid: The Lowlander is temporarily faster and deals more damage. Useful for quick hit and run raids. The additional damage points allow the lowlander to hurt the enemy more, and the speed boost permits him to outrun his enemies to the safety of friendly lines. However, the lowlander will be temporarily slower to move and attack after a raid due to exhaustion. Demolisher - Dwarven cocktail: *similar to a molotov cocktail* the demolisher throws a dwarven cocktail which can a) burn buildings and groups of units and deal them damage gradually for a limited period of time b) can clear paths in forests. I'll think of some more later. I know those ones aren't that great but I just pulled them out of my ass right now... |

Runner Explore: The Runner explores the map. (You just click on the icon, and the Runner will start wandering about the map by himself exploring it without you having to monitor him.) Sharpshooter Ambush: The Sharpshooter become invisible to all units not on his team. The Sharpshooter will lose its cover if an enemy gets too close, if he moves, or if he attacks. When the Sharpshooter is hidden, the first shot fired will grant three times as much damage and can shoot farther than normal. Scout Trap: The scout places traps (works like landmines). As more upgrades are researched, the choice of traps expands. Some traps work like land mines and explode when an enemy walks on them. Others ensnare the unit and prevents him from moving for a period of time. Some launch a flare that will be visible on the minimap to notify the player of enemy movements. Some will poison affected enemy units. |

I don't know, maybe some might be too cheap. Does the Miner get lumber as well? Miner Lucky Load(research?) - This passive ability give a 5% chance for a Miner to recieve double the gold from gold mines (and double the lumber from trees) when returning to a player's Town Hall. Warrior Counter(research?) - (Click to activate) The Warrior will recieve 15%(or 20%, 25%) more damage from all attacks, but 50% of the damage done will be returned to the attacker. Lowlander Weaken(research?, auto cast) - Decreases the armor of the target by one lasting for 20 seconds. This spell will stack; Everytime this spell is cast again on a unit that already has the buff will lose one more point of armor and the duration will increase by 5 seconds. The armor reduction cannot go past 5 and the duration cannot pass over 40 seconds. Demolisher Ravenge(research?) - The Demolisher has a 20% chance upon attacking to do one of the following: - Deal [x] damage in a 250 AOE. - Deal double damage to the unit. - Stun the unit for 2 seconds. Runner Far Passage(Initial) - (Can be deactivated, unless this is too user-friendly)The Runner will have increased vision for 20 seconds and lose 60% of his movement speed. After that time, the Runner will lose 3/5 of his original vision for 10 seconds and his movement speed will increase by 40%. Sharpshooter Locked Aim(Initial) - The Sharpshooter locks onto a target, dealing 50% more damage. It will take the Sharpshooter one second in order to fire, and another second to recover. Fire At Will(research?) - (Click to activate)The Sharpshooter's attack speed will increase by 100%, but has a 30% chance to miss on attacks. Movement speed decreases by 30% also. Bombadeer Bomb Toss(Initial) - The Bombadeer will take three seconds to throw a bomb into the air. When it lands at it's destination, it will explode, dealing [x] damage to ALL units in a 150 AOE and [x] damage to ALL units in a 300 AOE. Engineer Explosives Detector(low cost) - Makes a very weak tower that can detect all mines and explosives mined from Explosives Towers on the field in a 2000 radius. Every ten seconds, the map will highlight red, yellow, orange, and white pings. Yellow pings represent Safety Mines, red pings represent Dangerous Mines, orange pings represent Remote Mines, and white pings represent mines that are disguised. (For those who constantly forget) Explosives Tower(medium to high cost) - Can lay invisible mines that can only be detected by Explosives Detectors. Has three types of mines: Safety Mine(initial) - Deals low to medium damage, but can only be triggered by enemy units. A limit of [x] can be laid. Dangerous Mine(research?) - Deals high damage, but can be triggered by any unit. A limit of [x] can be laid. Remote Mine(research?) - Lays a mine that cannot be triggered by any unit, but must be manually exploded. Deals low damage, but after five minutes after it has been laid, it will explode on its own. A limit of [x] can be laid. Disguise Tower(medium cost) - A tower that can disguise mines and explosives laid by a Explosives Tower into six types of disguises. There are flaws to these disguises. Tree(intial) - A generic tree. Might look out of place. Bush(intial) - A generic looking bush. Might look out of place. Allied unit(research?) - Your average Miner. Too strange to see a Miner NOT working. Gold Mine(research?) - A gold mine disguise. Won't show up as a yellow dot on the map. Town Hall(research?) - Your average Town Hall. Will absolutely be out of place, unless a gold mine was next to it and Miners. Explosives Detector(research?) - This tower is important! How could it not be mistaken? It could look out of place, though. Weaponsmith Forge(intial) - Can make quality weapons and armor. These will cost resources, however. Rage(intial) - The Weaponsmith loses all regeneration and takes 15% more damage, but in exchange, deals 30% more damage and higher attack and movement speed. Slack Off(initial) - The Weaponsmith relaxes, increasing his regeneration and takes 20% less damage, but deals 30% less damage and slower attack and movement speed. Rocketeer Cluster Rockets(intial) - Same as Tinker's Cluster Rockets, but weaker. Descend(intial) - Gets lower towards the ground, becoming more vulerable to enemy attacks and becomes a ground target, but is more easily repaired and can use Strife. Strife(research?) - The Rocketeers attack speed increases by 100% for 15 seconds. But, the Rocketeer cannot move during this state. Mechanic Repair - Repairs a robot. More then one Engineer can repair a single robot. It takes materials to repair a robot. Mini Bot - This robot can take very little damage, but can be built easily and deals AOE damage upon it's death. Very dangerous when in groups. Guardian Bot(research?) - This robot will stay cannot be controlled, as they stay near and take damage for it's creator(The creator can still take damage, just not as much). They can take a medium amount of damage and deal low to medium damage, attacking at an average speed. They take a little time to build. Up to four can be built per Engineer. Harvesting Carrier - This robot is a Miner's best friend. They are slow at moving, but can harvest gold and lumber in greater amounts. They can take some damage, have very low damage and attack speed, but take some time to build. Let's give the Miner's some slack for a change. Lunging Robot(research?) - This robot moves with haste and has the Lunge ability that deals damage and pins it's target for a couple seconds. They can take an average amount of damage, deals low to medium damage at a higher then average rate. They take more time to build, but are good warriors. Murdering Robot(research?) - This robot moves slowly, but can takes a large amount of damage. It deals high damage at a slow rate, and can deal damage to surrounding enemies. They take more time to bulid, but are very good. |
