Its in the art section because it deals with art, and Ill post some stuff later dealing with this topic. Dont worry. ---------------- December 2004, I started wargaming. Warhammer 40k, the highlight. I always thought these type of games were nerdy and childish. So I'll give it a shot I said. My painting was sloppy and quick. When ever I saw people's armies Id always gawk in awe at how nicely painted they were. Man, those armies kicked ass. I looked at the details and said "You must have used a one haired brush or something to get those details in!". He scoffs at me and says "nah". June-August 2005, Im attending my friend's painting class, I already know how to paint my dudes. Im just there for gaming. I can paint, well. My orks and goblins were highly admired by the children who was learning how to paint. They were around 10-13 years of age, 2 of them. Im looking at my friend's miniatures and I go "dude, kick ass shading and highlighting". Notice how I no longer said stuff about the details? I could do detail, if I tried. But his shading was smooth and crisp at the same time. He made crappy models look gorgeous and gorgeous models even more wonderful. Hes in his 20's, almost thirties. He works as a Graphics Designer. He actually OWNS a copy of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. He says I do a good job painting my guys. Im happy. I made friends with the kids. They like my paintjob. The first time I met them they looked at my orks and asked "Did you use a one haired brush or something to get those details?" I stand there for a second or three, wondering to myself. ""Didn't I once ask that question?"". I look at them, I scoff and say "nah". |

That's a cute tale. In primary schools, my monitors played that game once and it was one of the coolest moments in my childhood days since I loved to play with plastic army men, watching these cool colored figurines was a blast. The pc game looks cool too but I just read about it in a magazine, so I don't really know. I really like the art of the whole Warhammer universe maybe I should try some fanart. ^^ |

The expansion to the pc game is horrible. It broke the game. Though just watching the fight, whomever side its on, is fun. "Ha! he was just blown 10 yards into the air!" The rules for Warhammer 40k have lots of problems and contradictories in them. It sucks. |

Well I don't really know the rules and how the real game works but the pc game seemed like a simple concept with cool anims and effects. |

Sounds like a lot of money and time! Personally... although I love miniature based dice games... I still like the RPGs better for some reason... maybe due to the cost. And I must agree... it is kind of funny how at first... you marvel about the details... and then later... you marvel about the composition achieved through awesome shading. |

There are smaller games which require less money. Gamesworkshop overprices EVERYTHING. God, a set of paintbrushes with a case for 150 dollars? You could get that exact set for better quality at a fraction of the cost. Its stupid. I spent an hour painting someone, but its not like I was going to use that hour towards anything anyways. |

I used to play warhammer. My old figures are horribly painted. I still roleplay but not warhammers. |

i'm going to consider that meaning, stealing...*shifty eyes* anyways... not that i stole anything for my wargames*cough hack* yeah, detail is not that important if you have good shading, i noticed this today as i was pondering, my friends drawings, when she shades they're freakin amazing, when she doesnt however.... also the comic 30 days of night, (no, not child friendly) alot goes into colors, and shades, the detail is bleh, but the colors are absolutely gorgeous. heheh, i also remember you sayine that and all that stuff happening more or less.... it makes me think "holy crap, i havent painted for detail or shading since last year..." so i'll probly start saving up/job searching, i hate being 15... i need a job but places dont like 15 year olds.. anywho, sorry, just thinking aloud, and yesh, it was a very nice story. |

What a lie man, we all know it was you who... or was that John? I think it was John that stole stuff. I dont think you've ever stolen anything. EVER. except for that one time we stole Kevin's marine and butchered him. I sooner or later tore him apart again to get back the bitz. Those bitz were awesome. AWESOME. You can do wonderful with shading. Except noone actually shades. Are you talking about mimi? because her shading is 1337 the d0g, snoopy the dog, and snoopy was 1337. He'd just sleep and eat and occasionally dance. Dude, you havent painted since last year. Let alone shade and stuff. Oh I bought Khador stuff yesterday, I finished basing and painting sorscha and 2 jacks. Man, I think I just wasted a whole can of Scab Red on these dudes. They're like surface area up the butt. Though the warcaster model's are the most beautiful things Ive ever seen, so much better than warhammer 40k independent character metal models. For a Khadoran Jack (the largest jacks there are) made of PURE metal, it was 20 bucks. They're the size of a dreadnought. A plastic dread is what? 40 bucks? I think Im gonna get some widowmakers offa john, hey can you ask john if he's willing to sell his widowmakers to me? |

Ok... What the Hell Shadow? Are you and T.C.G. friends? Like... as in... face to face contact? |

No, we dont make face to face contact. DUDE. NO! AGH! BARF! Dude what the hell? Yes we're friends but not like... BARF. Yes we live in the same city in the same state and attend the same school at the same time with a few of the same classes with the same people and talk about the same subjects and do the same homework with the same teacher. http://www.deepfriedhappymice.com/ht..._of_minis.html |
