Interesting ideas for a map: Help needed!

Put the previous idea on hold for now, in favour of this one.

I'm thinking of a monopoly-inspired map, in the sense that instead of building or training anything yourself, there's a "board" where you move a marker (peasant, maybe) around by rolling the dice.

The peasant then moves around the board according to the dice, and depending on what squares he lands on, different "events" happen in the main map, which can be both favourable and unfavourable.

So while there's a conflict going on in the main map between the players, there's also a "war" going on in the monopoly-like board, which influences the conflict going on in the main map.

I think a really fun idea for this would be your idea except a "reach the end first" board game.


Along the way there are traps that either hurt or kill your guy. You also have spots you land on to give you favorable things.


Kinda like that old game where you made the play doh men and had to get them through a factory. Sometimes they'd get smashed. other times they'd get speared. oooo the good ol days.

Sounds nice. How about having an arena-like game with a twist?
The map borders are the squares. When your marker lands on a square, it affects the units in the center of the map, which is the arena. It could be "create units", or "heal", or "cast blizzard", etc...

The gameplay itself should be somewhat unique in a warcraft3 engine, but its gonna get you a lot of triggering I guess.
