Spell editing woes

So I made a spell based off of Channel. I gave it different effect models for the target and the caster and put the Monsoon or whatever sound as the looping sound effect. So why does it just ingnore all of that and still just do the channelling effect and sound?

Also, how do you make it so the spell will break the channeling if the unit goes invisible or invincible like with starfall? Do you have to base it off of a spell like starfall to begin with?

Yes, you have to base it off channeling spell, starfall, tranquility, earthquake etc.

Channel is a channeling spell isn't it? Or does it not count? Actually, I made a spell based on Starfall and if the hero also has Divine Shield or Windwalk they can turn those off and keep on channeling...I thought that channeling spells stopped whenever the hero did anything else (ie. cast anaother spell). Am I making this up? I guess I may just have to do some triggers so that any hero that casts another spell while channeling anything is ordered to stop. But I thought that was supposed to be how it worked already...

Sorry, that was a lie. The Starfall one I was thinking of actually triggered another spell on another unit and that one of course would not get cancelled by the hero doing something else. And the channel spell was actually cancelling but since it had no cooldown and no mana cost it continued again right away.

But I am still confused as to why Warcraft ignores all the sound and effect settings I change on the ability.

It's the ability that ignores them, not warcraft. Not all spells use all the default spell fields avaliable.

If the spell you are using does not support sound or effects then simply add them with triggers...
