I would move this to the team gathering forum, but then you wouldn't be able to post there, seeing as how you don't appear to be registered on the site. (And it would be like throwing someone to the wolves, I don't have the heart for that) ...edit: looks like the wolves come here too. :) |

You have to put more information, otherwise your just asking for people to call you an idiot. No one would really want to help a person if they didn't know what they were getting into. |

You will learn this quickly in game design........Its one thing to have an idea. But good games or mods cant be built just on an idea. You need to have everything fleshed out, right down to how each map is going to look. only when you have a good description and write will you have the slightest chance of getting a team. Because without all that writing and info what are you good for? |

Thanks to those who were kind enough to contibute to this topic in a useful way. The rest of you, take this as a warning. If you have nothing useful or constructive to contribute to an idea or request, then don't bother posting. "lol" is spam. Enjoy the red reputation. |

Fine Whitehorn, you got me, i'll give the guy some advice. Warcraft mapping as a whole, has very few completed campaigns of any merit. This is due to a number of reasons. Firstly you have to realise that a campaign is a monumental piece of work - hundreds of man hours need to be put into a campaign for it to reach the highest echelons. World editor can also be and extremely anoying program to work with - triggers and systems can often blow out to monumental proportions if you wish to include complicated features. Object editing can be a long and tedius process while attractive terrain can take extrmely long to perfect. It is thus that time is often the biggest killer of campaigns and projects. However, if you do want to continue with a campaign you must realise some things when team gathering. Primarily you must be aware that there is only a very small pool of talented scripters and artists, for your project to be even considered by any of them you MUST produce an attractive design brief and effectively "sell" us your idea. Your post is unlikly to attract the sort of quality and number of people you seek due to a number of reasons. - You have logged on as a guest, a fact that detracts from your pet projects delivery - people are less inclined to believe you seriosuly plan to complete this project. - You fail to provide us with any actually description of what you plan to do, people wanting help "with a campaign" are ten-a-penny, unless you post information to show just HOW detailed your idea is then you will not get any serious attention. REMEMBER a 500 word notepad documment is not sufficient, but nor do you have to do a Tolkien sized manifesto, just make sure you detail every character and mission. When you post, try to have ALL the plotting and planning as complete as possible! - You don't tell us what your role will be! This is a really common mistake, NO ONE will seriously help you if you want them to do ALL the work. Except in the biggest projects there is no such position as "creative lead". IF you seriosuly want to get this campaign made to a high standard, and if your idea is THAT great then you may be in with a shot, then create an account and POST all your (detailed) notes. I promise NOONE will steal them, and you maybe, just maybe, will get the help you want. |

Very Good mr lama man. Reputation for you! yes listen to him. He explained a lot better than i did on how the design process works and why so many projects fail. Especially projects requiring extensive modeling and texturing. Not to mention that triggers can take time to get right. Along with cinematics. I should know, i started a burning legion campaign over a year ago. And there it sits on my comp only 3 missions long and missing alot of text and cinematics. Maybe you should start with b.net maps, its alot harder than it looks to make a good TD. |
