The problem with most games that are like dota, is people don't reallize that theres more to a game than pretty models and awesome spells. I, however, have noticed that, since i used to somewhat play DoTA, but now I don't. I am a genious at triggering. I use only w3e since w3e creates the maps with the least lag. JASS i find a bit too confusing. I need a good terrainer cuz i stink at terraining. I also need some heroes. If you wish to enter a terrain or hero, post the map on this thread. For terrainers, the map must have 2 bases, and it must be in ashenvale tileset. The bases must be big enough for a full sized meelee base, just for a scale. There must be many trees. For Heroes, they must have 5 skills, 2 basic (lvl 1 + 2 lvls, max 8), 1 secondary (lvl 3 + 3 lvls, max 7), 1 ultimate (lvl 6 + 6 lvls, max 5), and one legendary (lvl 15 + 15 lvls max 2) [if you noticed, that is from DD). Max level is 30. At level one, spread 25 points of attributes. Every level, you gain 5 attributes. You can use decimals in the attribute gaining! Also, make sure you use the right models for the right type of hero (i. e. a ranger will not be a footman throwing rocks, thats just plain retarded), make sure the spell animations look good, and be creative! To post in a hero, just make the hero in w3e, and post the map. Make sure your hero is clearly defined as either Elf or Night Elf

When Illidan and Kael went to stop Arthas from becoming the new Lich King, the had to go through a dense, uncharted forest. In that forest, some of the people were left behind... Some elves, some night elves. The naga were too smart. Becoming lost, they wandered around, looking for their leaders. When they could not find them, they began to make small encamptments. When Arthas became the lich king again, the Frozen Throne began to leak an aura of bloodlust. The eternal feud between the elves and the night elves was remebered. The elves, wanting revenge for being banished from their rightful homeland, began lusting for night elf blood. The only spark needed to spark off a war was a single death on either side. And that spark came...

Nice storyline. You might be able to get smoe help if yuo started working on terrain and things yourselves. People arent just going to read thsi and say HEY IM GONNA DO IT! msot people will want something already done. Try making your own terrain as best you can and maybe someone could hel fix it up for you or something. Do the same for the heros and untis. etc. If you have done things yourself then people will be more willing to help. They might think this is going no where and it might never be finished. all their hard work would go to waste.

Also, I'm not really that creative when it comes to names and jobs... i can only think of like 8 heroes right now...

Okay. If you are making a map JUST to take DotA down, you are doing it for the wrong reasons.

Well, I won't lie to myself, yeah, im makin to plainly to take down DoTA. This game will be to prove that DoTA is not the best game on the internet. I do not hope to completely take DoTA down, because noobs will always host this game. I just plan to balance out the number of DoTA players. This is mainly for people who don't play DoTA to have fun in a game that would be better than DoTA.

i dont like the story, night elves didnt follow illidan at all...he had ZERO night elf followers...ZERO, NADA, ZANK! (zank?)

If you are going to make another AoS, at least get some creativity. What are you going to do? Trigger? W/o Jass, you may as well stop now. GUI < Jass. I suggest you at least try to learn JASS or get another triggerer. If you aren't going to do much of the AOS, why are you doing it? That's the point where most people seem to fail. "I need a crew, which includes a triggerer, terrainer, modeller, skinner, hero maker, and of course an organizer. I myself will take credits for leader, since I got you guys together. Thx!"..."No one wants to help?"

You aren't going to gather many people to help you unless you actually do some stuff on your own. 8 hero ideas won't take you too far unless you have a crew to help you. In order to get a crew, you gotta know people or attract em thru talent.

You're not gonna get anywhere, you do realize. DOTA is on a throne for a reason: because it's the best at doing what it does for the genre of gamestyle. There are other thrones to fill. Try filling those.

Assuming you don't mean "DotA is the best AoS", but "DotA is the best crowdpleaser-map", then you're right.

The Storyline is too unnatural(or whatever the word for it is).

Once there was a frog, the frog was hit by a meteor and became a superfrog.

i think its an ok storyline,creativity could be a little better

I hate DOTA but I don't think you can overthrow it. Come to European gateway (Northrend I think) and there's less DOTA.

It'd be nice to see less DOTA out there though.

Do you guys hate DotA because of its popularity, or because you think its bad map?
