First Quick Terrain - Jungle

This is my first attempt at a terrain.

One thing I left out that I was going to put in was a dock at the murlock area, but I couldn't find a dock anywhere in the editor.

Please give any tips or suggestions.

Thanks.

Thats pretty bad, no tree variation, blizz cliffs, flat, no fog, trees growing on tiles and a bit more. I would suggest reading the tutorials at the top of the forum and looking at other peoples terrain a bit more.

Well right now for some reason it wont let me make single square cliffs with raise/lower higher than 1 cliff level, and i cant figure out why, so thats why that is like that. Tried messing around with fog but never could get it to work.

What do you mean by trees growing on tiles?

Read and learn. And by trees on tiles I mean I have never seen trees growing on bricks before.

Ouch, that Waterfall looks bad, you might make it a bit more adaptable to the terrain and watter flow.

Well everyone's first is far from magnificent, I would suggest as Plastic Angel has, work more with the editor, try using some custom trees, and avoid blizz cliffs. Practice will allow you to achieve greater sucess.

Decent first try, I would make it a lot more lively though. Good luck with your future terrains!

Well I guess one of my main problems now (other than technique) is getting the editor to work right. Here is a shot of what I'm talking about with the raise thing. Once i get to that point, if i keep clicking the same spot, it wont increase in height any more.

Also included another shot of my jungle thing. Waterfall looks better from the top.

Also, how do you make it so you can put doodads like rocks very close to each other like in the tutorial around his waterfall? It won't let me stack them on top of each other like that.

Don't Double post, edit your last one. Set Pathing texture in object editor of the doodads to none, or mushroom.

EDIT: As for the hill, try making the circle/square bigger. Or raise the areas around it with the single square option.

Sorry. Thanks for the tip about the pathing stuff, that helps a lot.

Making the circle bigger still yeilds the same results. The steepness of whatever raised land I make maxes out at ~45 degrees or so. In the tutorial it shows him using the raise tool to at least 90 degrees, so I know something must be off. Is there any custom editor or settings that I need to change to get it to work?

I uploaded a series of pics showing what happens when i use a larger circle with the raise command.

Fog does NOT make terrain look good. Its for vain terrainers who have something to hide.
