Terrain filling

I am making an AoS. I made 4 pathways for units, and have no idea how to fill spaces between them. I filled that with trees (mushrooms), but it looks boring. I added some big spires (2.0 scale), but it is boring and unnatural. Any ideas?

it's a good idea to observe how other people solved it. Just check some other aos maps. i don't think it'd be "stealing"

Post some pics. It's hard to say when we can't see the terrain.

I'd go with water.
Or some eye candy. Be creative.

Raising terrain with the Raise tool to create the effect of mountains.

I'll try that, and I'll put pathing blockers.
