(just hope this is the right forum) What I'm looking for is a strong light model. And I mean really strong. One is supposed to make normal towers lighting towers (which fits well with my increased sight range upgrade). Doesn't have to be positional light, global illumination is fine Another light is supposed to illustrate the 'Holy Knight' Upgrade, so the Knights send off lots of light. I've got my shopping trolley right here, you got that on stock? |

Do you even know what global illumination is? |

hey dude, no need to hold me for a moron! I've been working in the cinema industry for about 4 years, got on set experience with gaffers and tought myself some solid basics in 3D Studio Max. So better take care of your tongue, as the person you're not taking seriously might be unknown, but not not necessarily a clodhopper from outer space. Is that answer enough? |

Get Magos' Model Editor. Create a new model. Create a light node. Tweak settings, save, import. Easy. |

Oh so experienced, but can't do it yourself? |

If you are so gosu then you'd probably know that no game engine in the world has global illumination support. And I don't see any reason for your beserk reaction, for I was just asking. You give me the impression of an uneducated brat rather than a man with experience. |

What's wrong with you guys? I've been asking nicely. And I stated that I DO have a good idea of lighting in general, which should exclude some idiotic questions like "hoho, do you even know what a light is, can you even spell it?" Firstly this place is supposed to help people, not to mock about them. I hope I got this idea right so far. Secondly you can be good and experienced in various fields, but whenever you're getting into a new field of interest you start at the bottom. My new field of interest is making a great map for Warcraft, and there's nothing wrong with that, init? Starting at the bottom means that I don't have an idea neither how to make a 3D Max model compatible to be imported into WoE, nor in the ideal case, where to get some adjustable resources. And thirdly, in your rage of mockery you haven't even thought about giving me a solid answer to my question. Will I get it or should I rather ask somewhere else? Finally! A huge thanks to the MDL Editing Moderator Rao Dao Zao who seems to be the only polite and understanding person here. |

Your over-paranoid reaction sparked these replies. You claim you're not a moron, yet you take a simple question as an attack. |

I'm only polite and understanding 'cause I couldn't be bothered ranting like these fine fellows ;). |

1. I wanna see some examples of your work. I'm just curious so don't take any offense out of this. 2. The light you want mut be basicaly an omni light exported from 3ds max. See the tutorials section to learn how to import models and use them into WE. Also, you'll need 3ds max 4/5 to make models (lights) for wc3 and the blizzard art tools. Read the art tools documentation for a brief tutorial about a mesh setup for wc3. |

I could send some of the team videos from the projects I've worked on as PA, later as spark the first two years, or I could send a parcel with loads of DG-Beta tapes, which is the commercials I've worked on in the later years when I got into editing. I didn't get into visual effects department - never claimed that - yet as I said, I've had a good tour around 3DS max up to character rigging. It's not exactly my thing; both compositing and editing is way more exciting to me, and there's way more work out there for editors than there is for compositors or 3D artists. 2. That's pretty much clear. Thanks for the link. I'lll check out those tutorials. The reason I wrote this thread was because I thought there might be a way to get around the tutorials (not that it's boring, it's just time-consuming), like a ressource of already stored lights, just waiting to be imported, from Peppers over HMIs to brutes, if you know what I mean I've got 3ds max 6, that should do it. |

Version 6 does not work with the Art Tools. |

lol, just to make this clear: global illumination is just a simulation of realistic light, where light bounces correctly, it's not a light source. For light sources there are spot and omni as basics, u can have different kind of spot light tho. And man, you should not take all questions as an attack, it was just a simple question. And i would like to see ur works ye :) |
