I'm working on importing some skins, but I don't have the tutorial and WC3Campaigns has their tutorial section down. Do you know anywhere else I could find the tutorial or- Help me to import the skins into the map. I'm very familiar with mpq editing (Spells) but these skins are above me. Any help is appreciated. |

lets use grom hellscream as a example How to use the skin in a map: Step 1: Download and install WinMPQ at www.wc3campaigns.com Step 2: Run WinMPQ, click the "Open" button, and open the map you want to use the skin with. Make sure Warcraft III and World Editor are closed. Step 3: Click the 'Add' button and add Hellscream.BLP Step 4: A dialog box will pop up asking you to provide a folder name. Put Units\Orc\Hellscream\ as the folder name. You should now see the following line in your WinMPQ window: Units\Orc\Hellscream\Hellscream.blp Step 5: Click the 'Add' button again. Add Hellscream.MDX using the same folder name. You should now see: Units\Orc\Hellscream\Hellscream.blp Units\Orc\Hellscream\Hellscream.mdx Step 6: Now that you know how to add files to your map, add BTNHellscream.BLP using this folder name: ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\ Step 7: Almost done! Add DISBTNHellscream.BLP using the folder name: ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtonsDisabled\ Step 8: Done! You should now see the following lines in your WinMPQ window: Units\Orc\Hellscream\Hellscream.blp Units\Orc\Hellscream\Hellscream.mdx ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\BTNHellscream.blp ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtonsDisabled\DISBTNHellscream.blp You can close WinMPQ now. The skin, model and interface icons are injected in your map and ready to be used. Any Grom Hellscream unit you place on your map will be replaced by Kimahri! Important note: You need to re-add all the files every time you save your map in the World Editor. If you modify your map alot, and need to reinject the files very often, you can use mpq2k and a batch file to inject them quickly after every save. Information on how to do this can be found at www.wc3campaigns.com in the 'Tutorials' section. |

Thanks so much Keither. I just found out why the Arthas w/hammer model was replacing both the Arthas model w/sword and the Arthas model w/hammer- Because it is all one model and the sword for the Arthas model w/sword is extracted from the Death Knight Model. Which is bad for my rpg because I wanted to use both the original unedited Arthas w/sword model and an edited skin of the Arthas w/hammer model. Do you happen to know a way around this? -And do you know where I can download some more skins (Making them will take up too much time). The WC3 Downloads doesnt offer skins right now and I've seen a lot of very good skins I'd like to use on this forum. |
