hi guys. I'm making a very small funny little rpg map with a friend. One important thing is for it to stay linear, so I'm working on triggers to keep people out of an area before they are supposed to go there.

I could do this easily enough but i wanted to do something specific that i don't know how to do.

I put a region across the path, and i want to set up a trigger so that when a hero enters it and a variable isn't true (its made true when you're supposed to go there) you stop and then a bolt of lightning hits you and you get teleported back a tile or too with some sort of funny message about abusing the plot.

(this is a rather corny map, you see)

I could easily do this without the bolt of lightning, but i think it would be cool.

However, the bolt of lightning is not a destructible doodad, and I don't really know how to do that. Anybody got any ideas?

i was thinking that what i need to do is attach a special effect to the triggering units head for split second, but the thing is i don't know if there is a special effect for a lightning bolt and i don't know what it would be under. When i pull up that trigger it has Abilities\Spells\Other\TalkToMe\TalkToMe.mdl
there, but i don't know codes or locations or whatever the other special effects are called. How do i find that out?

In *************************** there's a list of Special Effects.

You can also attach units or doodads as Special Effects, but I don't know their pathnames...

oh, yeah... the stupid rule of nourls...

ok, it is "triple w dot campaigncreations dot org"

alright, so i suddenly had this funny feeling and i went and looked in Princess Prophecy, an old favorite, and it had this handy trigger that makes random lightning flashes. So now i know:
Doodads\Cinematic\Lightningbolt\Lightningbolt.mdx

whoopie

but the question still stands: how do i find out the above information independant of luck? Is it just straightforward, like
doodads/"wherethethingis"/"thething"/"thething".mdx or is there more to it than that?

P.S. yes, i know that i posted all these messages within 5 minutes of eachother or something like that, but its still a good question i think
