Here are some RP tips, rules, etiquette(how you should behave in an RP) and how you make an RP.

RP Making Rules

RP Making Rules
If you think you have a good story for an RP/want to make your own RP. Please PM me with the full storyline (no I'm not gonna ruin your RP, and no I'm not gonna steal your story and elope with it or whatever your worried about). Your RP can be of any type or of any setting (e.g. you can have a funny starcraft RP like I know john is dying to make, or a battle-only warcraft RP). If there is enough support for it, I will create an RP world with an extensive storyline, you may choose to attach your RP to this "world" and have it's plot intertwine with the others. And yes if you and another creator of an RP agree your RP's can meet for a battle or something. If your RP gets so that it is soo active it is hard to follow. It will be split into different threads for each location (e.g. The awakening: barrens, The awakening: felwood) so you can see posts relating to your char easily.

If you want to make an RP you have to be ready for the responsibility of updating it and controlling it. You must post a current storyline thread where new comers can read a quick summary of the RP and update it every so often. I won't have time to read every post in every RP so if you see a problem please PM me or john.

All you need in your RP is this:

Starting Storyline:
Characters involved, and thier position and affiliation in your RP (the names of the characters will suffice, no need to put thier full description):
Current Storyline:

no rules or anything needed, unless you want to add additional ones.

If you want to re-open your RP please contact me with the full storyline

Active RP's above 300 posts will either be stickied or given some indication of mod approval.

Inactive RPs will be closed.

If you want your RP split into more than 1 thread PM me

RP Rules

RP Rules

Now since I can actually do something about it, I WILL. I'll move off-topic posts, delete spam, etc. and yes even though I can't neg rep you here, I'll hunt you down and neg rep you somewhere else :P.. and I'm not too conservative

Yes that is a threat, if you break any rules

1) No off-topic posts at all. If your post has no story in it, I will ask it to be deleted. if you have somethign to say to someone PM them about it. if you must say something do it like this:
OOC: hi, I wanna spam
2) No whining about rule breaking or over powered chars, if you feel there is some of that, PM the offending player and sort it out.
3) Read everyone's chars with whom you interact
4) No over-powered char's (and I'm the one decided :P )
5) You can have as many chars as you want
6) One pet, summonable, invention, etc. at any given time per char is allowed.
7) Respect each other's chars
8) When controlling other ppl, follow thier personality and description
9) Keep controlling to a minimum, I will warn you if you do it too much. Sometiems it is nessecary to control other people's chars, especially when they are your allies, it won't matter much, but controlling enemies should be very rare.
10) Please do not control someone to give them a disadvantage,
Quote:
e.g. the nightelf fired a blast I deflected it, it hit her back with 5x the power
11) NEVER reply for someone in conversation, even a simple hi
12) YOU MUST STICK TO YOUR DESCRIPTION, YOU CAN'T JUST MAKE UP ABILTIES ON THE SPOT, YOUR TALENTS SECTION SHOULD INCLUDE EVERYTHING YOU CAN DO!!!!
13) When you die, you should create a new char.
14) NEVER kill anyone, e.g.

Quote:
I fired a fireball, and killed the orc

rather they should announce it, you shouldn't be afraid to die, if you're cornered hopelessly, then just kill youself e.g.

Quote:
The nightelves continued to advance thier blades whirring, crazily. Seeing no escape Darkroll, drove forward into thier blades, being butchered esaily, having one last concious thought, that the troll would forgive him....

15) If you are to argue outside of the thread, please PM your arguement to the person you want to talk to. None of us want to hear a senseless arguement that doesn't concern any of us.

RP Tips and Etiquette

RP Tips and Etiquette

Here are some tips to RP, I suggest you read them and if you have any ideas, suggestions or crits plz feel free to post 'em.

- read all posts since you last posted, throughly, soak in the details, and don't ignore anyone's post.
- if someone does something contrary to your ideas, first PM them about it (don't post anything) and then roll with the punches and make something new
- don't be stubborn about your ideas, improve them, as other people add to the story.
- don't make your char all powerful or do something impossible when backed up, just accept the facts.
- don't be afraid to die, it's not losing, it's just a new chapter in the RP, when you create another char.

- Don't take things of value without at least talking to the person thru PM, MSN or what not. E.g. the goal in some RP's is to collect powerful objects. Stealing one could really mess up the RP
- when you have to say a quick sentence about your post, in the RP do it like this

Quote:
<Story here>
OOC: Thats a great post huh? But it's okay you're not gonna die.. just wait

(yes that was lame)

Hey, Taur, can we compromise on some things?

Some Iffy Things
Hidden information:
12) YOU MUST STICK TO YOUR DESCRIPTION, YOU CAN'T JUST MAKE UP ABILTIES ON THE SPOT, YOUR TALENTS SECTION SHOULD INCLUDE EVERYTHING YOU CAN DO!!!!
- I really want to agree with you, but a character gets boring if they don't develop at all. In any story, characters grow out of their descriptions, so accomodate their experiences. It also shows how much they value those experiences. Controlling a flat character isn't so much fun.
- When it comes to an description of the how the character looks, I have to agree. You can't just pull out a bazooka and kill everything within a 50 mile radius. Oh yeah, and your character can't carry something like that, either. Talk about overpowered. X_X
- About the Talents and Abilities: Developing characters deserve developing strengths and ways to mitigate their weaknesses. How many stories have we heard of when the weakest character- often the protagonist, gets really strong? And of a very strong antagonist that gets "weak"?
- Of course, everyone expects that this trail of growth be small. We don't want it to happen over the course of a few minutes referring to the amount of time that passes in an RP. That doesn't mean that your character cannot stop from learning, though.

5) You can have as many chars as you want
- Don't do more than you think you can handle! If you can't handle having four characters out at the time same being at four different places, don't do it! Things get complicated and RPing becomes a hassle, when it should be entertaining.
- Merely try to avoid having more than you can handle, limiting to one char stifles fun and creativity. This is a contribution of advice from Hunter of Shadows.

6) One pet, summonable, invention, etc. at any given time per char is allowed.
- I have to admit, summons and the like do not seem to do much in an RP. I don't see much point in having a freathery friend when it is far easier to just stumble upon another character. Try to make things a little simpler so things get along faster.

8) When controlling other ppl, follow thier personality and description.
- Don't feel bad if you don't remember how that character reacts to others. Just refer back to their character sheet.
