Target Question

I set targets allowed for life drain to be Friend, Ground, Not Self, Organic and in game it says must target enemy unit and it works on the enemy. I want it to only work on alied units.

is there anyway i can do a drain where it gives allies health, but only the casting unit is channeling it and the lightning follows the target around until out of radius, i dont wanna periodic check it for distance

Guess ur gonna have to periodically check the distance, there's no unit goes out of range of another unit event.

Weren't drain spells made to be able to transfer life/mana in one of the patches? If you're trying to edit an older map, update the gameplay constants, there are some new fields there for drain spells; however, on a newly started map, they should already be set to allow ally transfer by default, if it still doesn't work then they are bugged.

im not editing an old map, im making my own map from scratch and ive seen this done in enfos MT version

That right I think there is some sort of channel ability,, for mana.. which takes mana from one unit you own and transfer it to another.

Drain Mana - drains mana from enemy units OR channels mana to allied units.

I was having trouble making Mana Siphon transfer mana to friendlies, but then it started working. Maybe it was when I changed the Game Data Set to Melee (Latest Patch), in the map options. Just a random guess.

In addition to Anitarf's action step, please remove the 'Not Self' checkbox. Select only 'Friend', 'Ground', 'Organic'. Not Self is a checkbox for allowing all targets but the caster, and overwrites other options.

Wouldn't this have some sort of an issue when dealing with a unit that doesn't have any mana? I dunno, maybe thats not an issue....but just what are you intending to use this for?
