Applying weaknesses/resistances to floating text?

Is there a way to apply a unit's damage to floating texts, but also making sure that it doesn't show the damage done intially, but with weapon and armor types considered?

That may sound broad. If you guys need a clearer explaination, then just say so. Thanks in advance you guys.

I think that the Damage Taken event response already returns the final damage after considering resistances and that stuff

Vague answer:

You either find out how much damage is taken on the receiving end, or you mathematically calculate everything.

nah the Damage Taken event response returns the real damage taken, Just tested it.

So then, is there no other way to do this except actually calculate the damage done? :/

by real damage taken I think Vexorian meant damage after armor/resistance.
