Lemmings!

Don't you love them? Hey guys, I was thinking of making a lemmings map, you know, those little guys who you have to get safely to their house, without getting them smashed, fallen to death, or anything else. But since i'm a lousy mapper, i'm asking one of you guys who's interested in lemmings and making such a map, to make the map. In return, i will fully skin it and take care of the music. So what do you think? Want to do a little 'lemmings' project with me?

That would totally be coool. I LOVE LEMMINGS. But anyways, I could help out wiht triggering, But I am not real good at terrain.

OK, now we only need a terrain guy! DKSlayer, will you take the lead in this 'project' please? Cause triggering is gonna be a hell of a job.

That would be cool with me. You will need to give us your ideas and spec for the things though. Imagination is not something I am very good at.
Is this going to be one map, with multiple like levels or what? Last version I played was a Christmas Lemmings. But yeah this is going to be cool :)

Let's first begin with a one-level map. OK, first of all, we need a side view side scrolling camera. You'd need to trigger that. Also, at certain points, the lemmings should 'fall', that would need height control. Thirdly, for ordering the lemmings around and giving them orders, we have to a make some buttons/spells. Diggin through the earth shouldn't be a problem (see my dungeon keeper map), making bridges and stairs will probably be harder. This is the stuff that's on my mind right now, if you've got anything to add just tell.

EDIT: If you can do all this, i'll do the terrain.

Hmmmm, I need to think this through, brain is kinda doughy.
Side view Camera
Lock camera Parellel to the map and have it to where it can only scroll left and right X, and maybe Up and Down Y if the terrain is real tall.

Height Control
Currently Units will not fall off cliffs. They don't like getting hurt. We need to make them fallable and after falling a certain distance they(DKSlayer draws finger across neck) they die. I'll start looking into a system for this.

Control System
Well I am thinking that whenever you select a unit that your current Lemming Assigment(climber,digger,etc...) is then put onto that unit and they are deselected. The way to set the Lemming Assignment code be done through use of dialog. Although if you have a better Idea say so.

Display left of Lemming Mode
We could use a leaderboard to display the amount of lemming diggers and so on that are left. Also I remember a speed thing so that could also be displayed there.

Terrain
So terrain will be basically Majorly tall cliffs? I have not tested the terrain limits of WE but I am guessing there would be a limit on heigth of cliffs, am I wrong? I hope so.

Now I am ONLY good with triggers and AI anything beyond that, at the moment, and I am clueless. If it can be done with tritggers I can make it happen. Just want to make sure ya know that. So changing the GUI or adding buttons besides Dialog and I don't know it. So someone for that might be good, unless you are doing that.

The terrain shouldn't be a problem, you can just heighten the terrain for elevation and make a cliff for parts that they can 'fall off'

I might have a way wich u can custom the look of the game a little... But when i try it something is wrong... So, if any1 could test it for me and tell me the results i would be happy.

Convert the attached tga to a blp then put it in a map under: Ui\Console\Human\
U must be the race human to test it, or it will definently not work.

maybe base it of Lemmings Revolution, with guys that kill you, traps, water lemmings(walk on water), acid lemmings(walk on acid)

Bah at your new fangled lemmings. The first one on the SNES was by far the best, i remember one level were you had to use umbrellas to get them all down. Im really curious how your gonna do this, maybe make the path only big enuff for one lemming to go by at a time, that way the blocking lemmings work correctly. Lemmings was a fun game, too bad my ex-friend stole mine (the bastard.) And something i was thinking, maybe you will be able to use it, make the lemmings flying units. And make regions or something were if they enter it they die.

Thanks guys, I love the original one alot. Haven't played the newer versions.

I have been thinking ofways to do the hieght and I was thinking of basically what archersrcheap said. I am still brainsstorming some other ideas, so I hope to start working on this soon. Christmas will put a slight delay.

For a while i was working on an fps style mod, but it was more like those arcade games like house of the dead. I had one level, just a few enemies and that, and it seemed to work well enuff. The boss was kinda cool, it was a militia man that you would have to shoot to stop, and he had a few tricks to stop you from doing that. I have no idea what this has to do with lemmings though. As for the lemmings, are you gonna have the exploding lemmings? Im not sure how much use they would be in this mod, but it would be kinda fun to see.
