WoW rocks.. its hella fun, though its like a machine that just rips the life outa you.. once you play it, you cant... stop. me and my level 60 good friends :) |

Thats exactly why i quit. Me and my friend wore all blues (rare) and could knock out n00bs. But then, once those n00bs gave up their social life, and got some good items, gg. I'm happy i left, and i feel good that i also left my mark on my server. (To a number of people) on a side note, another player on my server quit WoW a lil while ago, and i saw them on b.net. |

And therein lies the flaw. I haven't gained any experience for 6 months. Such is the joy of being level 60. |

If you know how to stop, then wow is just a good game. Like me, i know how and when to stop. Yes, i have many charecters and stuff, but it's for my own plasure, i play when i want, but I have a limit nontheless. I mostly play for RP, for it is the only great fun there, unlike spending 5+ hourse in some crazy instance gathering stupid "Phawt epixorz"... Most people don't like wow, cuz you have to pay for it, but eh, money is not that much of a problem for me. Money is spen eather to make one's life easier, or spent on "plasure" I enjoy playing wow therefore it gives me plasure, so a preaty much reasonable thing... On a side note: And still, having no epics, it's a plasure to kill a fully epic geared person. |

Anyways, yeah, WoW sucks lives out of people. The thing is that they don't realize it's happening till after they've played. Its like a drug. I could still go for a little bit of WoW now... but a little would turn into a lot, and then... >< ugh. |

... Does he really need to make it more obvious? Anyways, I'm going to have to side with Blizzard. Freedom has a coherent value of responsibility. If you are not responsible enough to smack yourself to stop playing a game that you chose to play, go to some Asian communist country where they can control the hours you play. People need to start getting smart. That's my final point. |

I don't really think it is such a simple problem. First of all for god's sake you are actually paying monthly! you can't just play 3 hours a month (which is my definition of the healthy for wow) after you paid whatever fee you paid to play over the month. Second, the trouble -according to the article - is not that people get addicted is that blizzard seems to award addiction since you actually get better rewards the more time you play. And that's mostly the point of the article, a game should reward skill and not time wasted. |

Got wow, played till level 33 (about a month) then quit, its the kind of game where there's no light in the end of the tunnel. (leveling isnt statisfying basically) |

Gladly, there isnt much wow around here, cuz things like this take a "while" to fully come and take over of... well, everything. Still, when wow fully comes... DISASTER, CHAOS, PAIN, SUFFERING, MAYHEM, DOOM and far more important than these former ones: FEES!!!!!. GOD SAKE, THE FEES!!!! |

That is why I don't play MMORPGs and that is why people shouldn't, but the bottom line is you can't stop people from doing it. You can only suggest and encourage it. We can compare/contrast this to smoking. Can a government spontaneously make a law that prevents people from smoking? Certaintly not, it would crush the smokers as they are addicted. Can the government promote the ridding of it? Of course they can. It happens today. Quote:
Since most people playing are students, let me tell everyone a little something: knowledge is more rewarding than a MMORPG can ever be. The bottom line is that if you know that learning is more rewarding and you still continue to play WoW, you are adopting a lazy attitude. If you don't know learning is more rewarding, I just told you. Quote:
Good advice tells you to stick to free online games. Let me give you an example: Warcraft III. |

The first statement is incorrect. I personally think that the game is good, and I know how to stop (or never really start). The second sentence is your opinion. |
