Help for a noob at skinning plz ?

im useing war3ModelEditor to make skins but what i need to know is how do u get the unit u need to start skinning plz help

You find the units .blp in the tree view? and extract it as .tga or .bmp, then open it in photoshop or some other program and skin it.
