Prepare yourselves to be shocked and possibly even disturbed at the site of these face blowing dynamic skies

Are those cloud textures hand-made or from photos?

TDR
excellent. even if they are just photos, it looks very good.

Just interested. Now, for the critical question - how did you do it? Is it an additive glow moving across the sky? Is it using lights? Huh?

They are photographs, but I have used a multi-layered effect to make the clouds move and seem more lively.
The sun is an additive glow along with some other awkward things I have done.

Oh, and to TDR, that means alot to me coming from a person like you.

Other awkward things? Go on, spill the beans. You know you want to.

Well, there are those large colourful circles projecting from the sun which give the effect that you are actually staring at a light. There are also the clouds moving in front of it which give it its distorted shape. It is sort of hard to explain, I have all these things going on in the skybox and it all sort of comes together into a spectacular scene.

No chance of you posting the model and all the textures for download, then...?

Well, I would really love to make everyone happy and do that but I even more so want this mod to have unique, terrific visuals that make it all the more amazing, so I am afraid I cannot.

Damn. Couldn't tempt you to do me a few skyboxes on the side, could I? My space attempt was horribly poor, and if you've got this kind of sky talent on your side...

I may be able to do that, what kind of skyboxes do you need?

Well, I'd like two spacey skyboxes; one, with a large planet below (ie, for in-space shots) and one with stars above, perhaps a small moon orbiting or something (for on-planet shots). If you scroll down a bit in at the Promotional Screenshots area, there's a thead on my current project "Asteroid Wars" - a few shots show the sky I've already got.

Okay, I think I can do that.
Oh, and by "a large planet below", do you mean you want it on the lower wall of the sky box or actually below the skybox(assuming you found some way to get rid of the ground)?

I got rid of the ground, so on the bottom of the skybox, yes please!

Okay.
