Hi all terrainers, tell me what you think about the terrain. Its from a wip rpg and its just a start. Ive just put some trees and bushes yet, want to know what you think about it. I believe It lacks something, dont know what though, I will probably add some stones and grass here and there, else then that what do you think would fit? there will be some flowers and maybe mushrooms but they will be items so havent placed them yet. The pathing is really open and you can even hide in bushes and behind bushes from other players. If you wonder why the sky is so near on the first pic its because I forgot to ctrl+scroll it away ;P |

screenshot #2 looks unnatural... same trees and every tree has grass on it... maybe add a fog too and noise terrain more? |

Well the on the 2nd one its day-time so its brighter. Ive already used noise/smooth to make it random height though the picture doesnt show it, I can turn the grid on and you'll see its very "unflat" The same tree thing was just unluck that all those trees got placed at the same place with the same angle, will change it. I also only have 2 different types of them. EDIT: Ive must been really unlucky :P just noticed that all the trees on 3# is the same with the sam angle. 1#Here is one with the grid on, its a bit flat but I dont know if a big hill would fit in the middle of the forest, if i would make one it would probably be some kind of glade. 2#This one shows that the terrain isnt very flat. About the fog it already is one, was thinking if I should put it closer though. |

It's totally flat. And you only use one type of tree. No sexy fog. And no tile varyation. Could use a lot of work. |

Yeah I just started on it, (The whole map is in Grassy Dirt) I've just placed some trees and bushes yet. My problem is that the forest is really huge and it might get hard to make it all look unique without having to use trees that doesnt look the same. I have lots of ideas that could make it much better, the thing is that I'm not very good at making them true :P Will continue to work on it when I've done with the backpacksystem. Anyway, two ingame shots. |

Ok, will do EDIT: Ok I've read a bit of the tutorial, my main problem is that the map is so huge and I dont have time to make every spot perfect, If I only had to do the terrain then that would be a difference, but I also have to make the hero balancing, creep balancing, story line and so on(I think you all already know about this) Also making only one tile that high doesnt work for me, is it because I dont have the text file they mentioned in the tutorial? If it is, can someone reattach it as it's lost. EDIT:Found the file further down the thread. Made a little test map with the "clicking lots of time with the raise/lower tool" tip. not related to the rpg, just wanted to play some with my new knowledge Tell me what you think (try to ignore the blackness, its outside the map. |

My eyes they burn no just kidding. But for the forest try adding some rocks and flowers. The last 2 pictures you posted the terrian streach isn't really good and when you take a screen shot from the editor go to game view by hitting v and like the others said fog and maybe you could try some rain and see what it looks like. |

Yeah the last two ones where just for the ground, I didnt care about adding fog and weather to the map :P About the forest I said in the first post that I'll add flowers and mushrooms as items. I will se what I can do with the rocks :P If you by "terrain streach" mean the things in the bottom left and right those arent supposed to be there, they are easely removed but the map was just a test one so I dont care :P The 2 last shots would fit more for a melee map than a rpg I think (probably because of the summertreewall) |
