How long would it take to build a model out of scratch, not the skin, useing Gmax? I don't mean it might take a few weeks, or months, but just about how many hours of labor would it take to make one?

Depends on what you're making. I can bang out a model in a couple of hours depending on dedication, enthusiasim and/or complexity.

The point is, there's no set amount of time it'll take to make a model. I'm getting a sense of deja vu, here; has somebody not asked something like this before?

It won't be surprising if someone did.

not true. an unskilled person makes things like this:
Zoom

while a skilled one makes stuff like this:
Zoom

A newb could never ever make something like that.

A newb of average intelligence could *learn* to make that.

But without inspiration, there can be no progress at all.

ies, he could learn and become skilled. but as unskilled and nooby he can't possibly make that.

U both are wrong, the correct answer is Experience and practice, as more you practice and learn, faster and better your works will be made.

Everything is 1% inspiration and 99% persperation.

That's a horrible misquote and I don't even know who said it. But it does the job.

No matter how experienced you are, you need enthusiasm and motivation. These come from a good idea; good inspiration.

In fact, it's a massive mesh of everything we've all been saying.

Well, I've been hearing a lot about inspiriation and skill from this topic, but the general gist of this is "You can do it!" I guess I'll get that 30 day trail of Gmax in the summer and work from dawn till dusk making the best models I can.
