Yes I do realise that nothing I do make gets out of the beta test forum :D. I do hope to get something really fine tuned to release but I play around with concepts too much. On to the map... To know what the map is all about, just click on the screenshot! Yay! It's quite simple really. It's completely mindless too. - You see the word following an undead unit - You type the word on your keyboard (without needing to press enter) - If you typed it correctly, your marine shoots the the undead. F1 to clear words, escape to backspace. - If you're too slow, the undead reach you and attack you. It's multiplayer, difficulty scales up. It's actually harder with 4 people because there will be many cases where more than 1 person targets the same enemy and ends up stealing frags and wasting effort. And this time it's a short 5 minute or so affair, I try not to drag it on too much. It's good for playing once in a while, but it's not the kind of map you'll want to play repeatedly again and again, although it might break the monotony of playing AoS after AoS after TD. So try it, test it, some feedback will be really good. - The ending is a bit abrupt, I will try to make one, but for now this is a beta test, so no need to add it :D - The terrain sucks :( but I tried my best! Would love it changed for the better :D - There are many keys that don't respond. That's because there are only 11 keys that will respond :D it HELPS though, since you can't fumble and mash wrong keys. - I tried making a custom loading screen (out of the image down there), but it became 2mb and the bottom 3rd didn't like to be displayed. - Sometimes when you type you will shoot a unit that is off screen. I'm thinking now of maybe looping from the back (so the units created first are shot first) and I'll try this out. So ummm... it's multiplayer :D it's more fun (IMHO) when playing with about 2 - 3 friends. Although it's not really very functional past 6 players (too much cluttering) but there is that option of having up to 11 players. Edit: Uploaded v2.42. No new content, just some changes. - You now do not need to clear words. The checking of words is done from the end of the screen (creates noticable lag but not spikes, so it's tolerable). - Loops from the back, units created are shot first (helps a lot). |

Why have the ability icons used to collect the keystrokes in the first place? Just use black icons and disable the UI so tooltips do not show. :) |

Come on, Ant, do some polishing and finish something. :P Even if this is a copy of another game, at least it's a unique game, that's still a lot better than a copy of a hundred other AoS maps. With some decent craftmanship (terrain and interface mainly, as well as some other details), this kind of map could so be in wc3c maps database. Now, I'm speculating a bit here, but couldn't you use more than 11 letters? Abilities should be able to work even if they are pushed off the command card (this is the speculation part, I'm not sure if the hotkeys still work), now I see you don't use abilities but items, I suppose it's because of delay, but you should be able to clear all delay on abilities as well, with 0 cooldown and unit animation cast point set to 0 in the object editor. |

The icons are there because I used a shop and I couldn't get rid of the "select user" ability, so I decided to fill up that space. On hindsight I could have just made the select user ability black too (but I do miss out a lot of aesthetic details when making stuff). Abilities should work, but I did overlook that t.t I got lazy because I could just use "item name" to fill in the letters here, whereas with abilities I guess I'll have to use array and play around with channel (which I guess I should look up about now :D) or find 12 non-targetable passives. There's version 1, version 2... and each gets closer to being "complete" :D so I'm getting there... Edit: new version up, minor but rather useful changes. And is the counter bugged? It says "1 view". |

wow I was going to do something like this.. it was going to be like a tower wars things... Type to get more gold well the issue that concerned me when I was planning such a map was LAG.. I played this solo.. but how do you think the lag will affect players who arn't RED? Abilties dont queue that well? |

It's items not abilities ^^ but I'm not sure if that makes a difference. I tried it with other people hosting. There might be slight delay, as in there might take a certain time after pressing the key to type a letter before the letter appears on your word string. However, there is no messing up of the order and that's really what is important. So if your typing is true at most you might lose out by a second and get kill stolen but you most definitely won't type wrongly because of lag. |
