This is probably more of a selfish request than anything, but I would like to see some tree models that are made to be clumped together like the standard WC3 tree's are now. All the tree's i've seen made look awesome for cinematics and map marketing screenshots but I would love to see some tree's for something more functional. Any takers? |

No pics for you! But... Say you plop down 30 Fall Tree Wall tree's that are standard models in wc3. There's a few things about them that I don't see in many custom models. 1) They're full. Imagine taking a chisel to a block of stone and carving it into a tree sculpture. Blizzard's way of making tree's (figuratively speaking) was to do as little chisseling as possible to create the tree, so that when they're clumped together they look better(together). Most custom tree model's i've seen, while looking much better than blizzard's on their own, do not look when clumped together. They have to be carefully set apart to make them look useful. 2) Blizzard's cartoon style. The problem i'm running into with some of the nice looking custom tree's is that they do not fit in that well with terrain tiles. You can see evidience of a certain style in both terrain and tree's and as it is (or as we're used to seeing it) it looks normal/good but adding some custom tree's makes them seem a little out of place. In short, i'm a picky bastard that wants full bodied tree's that don't invade each other (when using the standard pathing map of trees) that look like something blizzard might have made. You know, the same, but different. I expect them on my desk at 5. |
