I am working on an Epic RPG map with 9 Heroes: Barbarian, Warrior, Druid, Hunter, Mage, Necromancer, Paladin, Shaman and Sorceress, 6 Professions: Mining, Smithing, Fishing, Cooking, Herblaw and Fletching. Each class will have there own hometown, specialised skills and traits. I will now explain the Professions: Fishing First you must buy a fishing rod, fishing cage or harpoon, then go to the harbor or a waterhole, setup your fishing gear and wait a bit to catch your fish! Then sell the fish, or better yet, use the Cooking skill and cook your fish to heal or, feed it to your pet! Cooking Whether you have caught a fish or made some bread, and wish too cook it, then this is the skill for you! Simply make a fire with the Fletching Skill or find a Bakery and cook it by standing in the Circle of Power and put the items you wish too cook into the inventory slots of the Bakery and click cook! Mining If you want to make some armour, weapons or simply cash, get your pickaxe and find some rocks! First attack the rock until you get some ore, then it will go invulnerable you can either wait for it to regenerate, sell it or use the Smithing Skill to make some armour or weapons. Smithing Skill Just go to a Blacksmith and stand in the circle of power then put your ores into the inventory slots and press make Sword, Mace, Battle-Axe, Scimitar to make the specified weapon or make Platebody, Platelegs, Gloves or boots to make the specified armour. Herblaw If you want to make yourself a potion to get the better of your opponent, sell the Herbs for profit or just use the potions for fun then this is the skill for you! Firstly go looking through forests, deserts etc until you run across an item called "Herb" pick it up and if your Herblaw level is high enough you will be able to identify it and use it for potions. To make potions go to a Herblaw Hut and put the herbs in the slots and click "Mix Ingredients" If successful you will have yourself a potion. Fletching Fletching, is simply cutting wood too make fires to cook food or cutting the wood to make bows and arrows, each log will make you 15 arrows, and a 100 second fire! I need some people with a good imagination, too make quests and maybe some skills, a Cinematics Artist and a Terrainer. I also need some Voice Actors, but I don't need them until the map is near completion. I will be releasing a demo version of the map, it will be protected, and will show you all the heroes, some towns and the fishing system. I will now post some info on the heroes: Barbarian = Pros - Damage increased, Can wear heavy armours. Cons - cannot attack air units, can only use swords axes and shields, Intelligence reduced. Druid = Pros - Can change in and out of forms to take advantage of the opposition, increased Mana capacity. Cons - can only wear cloth and leather armour, decreased armour. Hunter = Pros - Can tame animals and kill enemies with their pets, has a stealth ability, only class that can wear bows, increased movement speed. Cons - Can only wear cloth and leather armour and bows only, must feed pets or the pets can die or get sick. Mage = Pros - Can cast devastating attacks and curses, can wear staffs and shields, has an increased Mana capacity, can summon food. Cons - Can only wear cloth armour and staffs, decreased Damage. Necromancer = Pros - Can summon allies from corpses, can wear staffs, increased Mana capacity Cons - Decreased Health, decreased movement speed. Paladin = Pros - Can wear all armour types, swords, axes and shields, Increased Mana capacity, can heal itself. Cons - Decreased Health, decreased armour. Terrain is baaad. Not terrible, but definately not very good. Check out the Terrain Forum for hints on how to improve it. Oh, and it's "Herblore", not Herblaw. |

yeah i know about the herblore thing, and why is the terrain baaad? Post 2: its actually an open rpg Edited by Blade.dk. Reason: Double post.. |

Don't double post. (Use the Edit button) Well first off dont use the blizzard cliffs unless you really have to. You need to add more tile variation and doodads. Add some fog too. And when you take screenshots, press V in editor to get the Ingame-View. |

Thank you very much, what fog do i add, and how do i do it(forgot lol) and thanks you for the ingame view tip! Post 2: Does anyone want to join my team? We need a JASS programmer, a good terrainer, cinematics artist and someone with a good imagination, to make quests etc. Edited by Blade.dk. Reason: Double post. |

Nice ideas, sounds good Anyway, if you're making an rpg, try to make terrain the best u' can, terraining gives you the feeling of being inside the world of your rpg (of course, combined with a good story), take a look in the art gallery terraining section. |

So you want people to come up with the ideas, make the cinematics, do the JASS and do the terrain? What are you doing, may I ask? |
| 03-13-2006, 04:56 PM | #9 |
I could help you one some JASS, Im no pro yet but can do most things. And could probably help on the imagination too : ) |

Well, I can do most of the stuff, but what I mean is anyone willing to help part time, griffen. Thunder_Eye, I have had a look at your signature and took interest into the saveable pet system, I ask if you could help me with this, as I have pets in my map and I want to save them. Also I seen the NPC conversation subheading and I was going to ask how this works and maybe if you can do it in my map. @HernanG thanks for the advice, and yes, I have been looking around for some terrainers to make it feel your in the world. -Chase Post 2: @ HernanG I've had a look at your submissions, and they look great, the terrain is awsome, I would love it if you were to join my team, please post or email me at [email protected] Edited by Blade.dk. Yeah sure I'll help you with that. About the Save Pet system, its something I made in my old days with GUI. It saves the Unit-Type and level of the pet as that was the only thing I required at that time, If you want something more I could see if its possible to add, will probably remake the system in JASS too. |

ok, sweet, just add me to msn, and we will have a talk on there. ![]() Also, in my RPG map, it mentions skills, and I was wondering if you know or could find out a way to save the multiboard variables aswell. Thanks -Chase |

Thx, i'm never was in a team, so i don't know how sh*t 1 works, if u' need help with terrain, just contact me, i will make the best i can do :D my msn is [email protected] EDIT: this will be a single player rpg or multi? |
| 03-19-2006, 09:30 AM | #14 |
Lol, I forgot to include that it will be a multiplayer RPG. |
| 03-19-2006, 12:33 PM | #15 |
Excellent, i love multi RPGs =D, Im in "I also need some Voice Actors," The map will be Multiplayer, so i think u' must try get the map the lower size possible, the voice of actors will take so much space, a better idea is to import models and doddads - and it MUST have an imported minimp preview and loading screen, it just makes the map look more professional. Of course, it is just a suggestion, u' decide :p |
