Multiboards and Leaderboards sound like the same thing, however I know people- including me who don't really know what the difference is. In fact, if someone suggests if they should use a leaderboard, the questionier often says, "Why shouldn't I just use a multiboard?" So, my question: What's the difference between a multiboard and a leaderboard? If you guys could also tell me(or us) what sort of situations are best for each? |

I'll start with some stuff off the top of my head. Leaderboards are simple tables that display a string and an a number (don't remember if they can display reals) IE a scoreboard with eahc players name and thier score. Multiboards are more complex tables that can contain multiple strings and numbers as well as things like icons (IE images). You also get direct control over the formatting of a multiboard. IE a comblex table for displaying custom hero statistics and an 'experience bar'. |

Leaderboards allow a title and rows which are, by default, linked to player numbers. The rows show the player's name, which is colored according to the player it is assigned to, and an integer. The leaderboard can easily be organized according to the order of numbers using an existing function. A multiboard also has a title and as many rows and columns as you want. Nothing is linked to the player name. There is no easy function to sort it. Each cell of the grid can have its color changed and can show an icon if you so desire it. As examples, when I made a Footman War, I used a leaderboard because it's very simple. When I made an AoS, I used a multiboard because I wanted to track more than one number (unit kills and hero kills) and because I wanted a column that showed each player's hero icon and the time remaining before it revived. |
